a big well done to Jose Mourinho. Don't agree with his general behaviour and the sh*t he comes out with, post comments, but what a top top coach!

Don't care Id rather watch boring football if it meant trophies. This guy is a winner! Beat us twice, outsmarted Rogers, out played Arsene's team, and now semi finals with a good chance to going to final of the champions league.

I can't agree. Obviously I'm quite happy that his team beat the scouse today, but there's no way I'd want City to play that brand of negative defensive football.

Lets face it, the guy is a complete cock, and you seem to have forgot that his team have recently lost to Sunderland, Palace and Villa

So not such a football genius then!

That term doesn't really exist. Managers aren't really generalists, modern managers should be able to adapt to the capabilities and strengths of teams a bit and not be too rigidly fixed to one style and system. But all managers do best playing "their style", that they have honed and drilled into their team. Chelsea play brilliantly parking the bus because of Mourinho's legacy that started when he was first appointed and their approach has never been broken up because no coach was never there long enough to do it and impose a different style and because the core of the team that was successful were never removed because they were consistently successful. Chelsea and Mourinho fit together perfectly because for the obvious reason that for the past 10 years or so they have been very much in his image, and because Chelsea have no pretensions of playing anything other than winning football i.e. the rags or liverpool, Roman Abramovich might but not the bulk of their fan base.

The trick for Mourinho, is that those teams that defeated them are all trained to play defensive football and so it puts him out of his comfort zone. His team can't prey on the mistakes of the opposition if the opposition are already set up to prey on the mistakes of his. That is the same reason why liverpool lost today, they play a different style than Chelsea, granted, however they are very much a counter attacking team and once they were unable to do that to day the game always favoured Chelsea.

apparently you aren`t allowed to defend when you play at anfield, you must go there wide open and invite them to attack at every opportunity...
we might call Maureen a gobshite but fuck me he came and did a job at ours and he`s done a job at anfield...

Brendan Rodgers is an arsehole, his Swansea team were lauded for playing attacking football but in reality they bored the opposition to death by passing between their defensive midfielders and centre-backs then back to the keeper to knock up field to Danny Graham. Chelsea approached the game by surrendering possession and exploiting Liverpool's mistakes, but that is what Swansea did by playing the way they did(they just used a different style to do it), and what Liverpool did by playing as a counter attacking team for much of this season.

I also seem to remember Liverpool setting up that way when they played at the Bridge under King Kenny and Glen Johnson scored on the break to win the game for Liverpool.

Azpilacueta is turning in to a fantastic full back. He was excellent today as was cole, but sterling didn't get anything out of him.
