I don't understand this "Chelsea had no strikers" argument.

Firstly, Mourinho loaned out Lukaku, their best striker. If you aren't happy with your striker, why loan out one who scored 17 goals in the league the season before? Stupid decision.

Secondly, Mourinho never really gave Eto'o or Ba a real run of games. He rotated them so much, none of the two had the time to find some form. He did give Torres a good run in the side, despite being their worst striker. Ba's not the best player in the world, but he scored regularly at West Ham and Newcastle. Arsenal had worse striking options IMO.

Thirdly, Mourinho had two transfer windows to rectify this problem and did nothing. He spent £60 million on players in the two windows, so money was spent.

If Chelsea didn't have good enough strikers, the blame is 100% at Mourinho's door.
This, this and this.
Every time I hear they've no strikers I ask about Torres, Ba and Eto'o; all were top class recently, and Lukaku who is probably better than the other three on recent form. If Maureen was such a good coach rather than just a talking arsehole and pantomime twat he'd have coached the midfield and strikers to work together. Alternatively he'd have recalled Lukaku rather than just having him score against the challengers. Surely him playing for Chelsea for up to 38 games was more likely to benefit them than having him opposing us, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spuds in 8 games.

Strange isn't it, those 3 aren't too shoddy - is there a stat that says they've missed loads of chances between them or is it just lack of chances created for them? Sure any of them would bag a few playing up front for us. The press seem to lap up the bullshit though - Wilkins reckons Chelsea would have won the league at a canter "if they had a striker"!
No they are shoddy and you should not got by names. The most baffling out of all of them is Torres though. Torres should be much better.
The only player I can compare Torres to is Bale, during his bad years. I don't understand why Torres is so bad. He is still strong, fast and has great stamina. He just finds a way to constantly miss. If you were compiling his stats for a game they would all be quite good, apart from his movement, but he just messes up.

It was a mixture for Chelsea. In some games they missed chances and some games they did not create enough. The striker was the bigger problem.

Yet another trophy for their youth team as they win the U21 PL at the swamp against United. But will any be given the chance to break through from the (current) best 17-21yo academy group in the country? The same question will be asked of City but our holistic approach supposedly involves promotion from within (when they're deemed good enough).

Christensen should already be playing in the Premier League every week.

The centre back (can't remember his name) that played at Liverpool looked pretty decent too.

I thought when Chelsea played us we looked a more free-flowing attacking team and it was only our finishing that cost us, wheras Chelsea looked better tactically and especially defensively.

They had a few good attacking players on show but it was their defence that stood out, had our attack been playing against our defence we would have won that game in my opinion.

From what I saw in the game against us I think Christensen, Kalas, John Swift and Loftus-Cheek will make it, whether it will be with Chelsea I don't know.

We have been reportedly 'monitoring' his situation.

He would be worse off with us that he would at Chelsea as we are looking at Mangala or potentially Benatia, plus we have Rekik and Denayer of our own who look very promising.

I reckon Chelsea will give Terry this one more season contract he has been given and I reckon they will look to promote Kalas or Christiensen after it.

They have Kurt Zouma coming in this summer after they signed him up in January so I think they will look to establish him in the team for a season first and let Christiensen and Kalas go out on loan for a season or two.

Anyone want first bet on the number of games he'll be suspended for next season? Got to be an emerging betting market, surely?
How many games was he suspended this year then?

They don't have retrospective bans in Spain though, had some of the stuff he got away with in Spain happened in England he would be looking at possible 4 match suspensions.
