Although the original tackle on him was hurrendous the reaction from Matic was violent conduct, there's no way his ban could be overturned.

Agreed; no chance that'll be overturned. You can't strike an opponent, which Matic theoretically did. Do the same people who think Chelsea should appeal, also think Barton's red card should also be rescinded?

Nothing theoretically about it. Matić did strike Barnes.

And as bad as the tackle was, Matić couldn't have been that badly injured if he was able to jump up in an instant and race after Barnes.

When I was a kid, it was always emphasised that retaliation was worse than the original offence. Maybe if Matić had stayed down, the ref would have taken action against Barnes.

I don't think there was any intent.. Watch it and Matic comes through late into the path of the guys boot.... Horrible result but not intentional

I agree about that, but intent or not, it's still a bad tackle; a potential leg-breaker.

For me they are under huge pressure, Mourinho has ramped them up all season, if they lose the Cup final they'll start to panic, they know we're now at full strength, something we haven't been all season, and we'll go on a run. Mourinho IMO will be sacked if he doesn't win the league which is why he's becoming so erratic.
