Please listen to the appeal after the cup final then ban him for four league games...
This won;'t happen though although it is clearly a frivolous appeal. You can't get up from a challenge run 10 yards to push someone over and then claim it isn't a red. What planet do Chelsea live on it they think this will be overturned or is Jose doing it so he can then go and claim there is a vendetta against his club!

That's exactly why he's doing it, since he got away without an extra game for appealing Costa's red. That's why the extra game ban needs to be used.

wasn't one in the cup and one in the league? Rules must be different?

Yes and one was retrospective and one wasn't. The point I was making is that if Maureen thinks he can appeal every decision to push his own agenda without punishment, he'll continue to do it, that imo is why the FA have to remind him that there are consequences to his actions.

No retrospective action for Barnes for the non-tackle according to TalkShite

That surely means that Chelsea's appeal is frivolous unless the FA are saying that there is no Barnes action as the Referee saw it and deemed it a 50/50

If the referee did think that then the Chelsea appeal has to be rejected and a game added............. or it that wishful thinking?

Chelsea never appealed Costas ban. They were never in a position to make such an appeal.

Quite simply when the FA made a retrospective charge they defended the charge at no point did they appeal for Unless the penalty then handed down was more than 3 games there is no right of appeal

As for the appeal in the Matic incident then there are clear grounds based on The FA recent track record in such matters but also Howard Webb, acting on behalf of PGMOL place on record a push below the neck was a yellow card offence.

Will any appeal be successful? Very very unlikely.

When I first watched the Chelsea-Burnley highlights on MOTD I was expecting to see some 'horror challenge' from Barnes as a result of the media outrage after Matic's red card.

As it turned out, what I actually saw was Barnes play a pass and Matic challenge HIM. Barnes's passing foot then makes contact with Matic, as a result of MATIC'S CHALLENGE! I didn't even realise I was looking at the incident in question until I saw Matic leap up and charge at Barnes. I am in total agreement with Atkinson on this one and if Chelsea's appeal results in anything other than a frivolous appeal then we have final evidence that these 'independent hearings' are anything but independent and that Maureen's whining has had the desired effect.

Interestingly, this ref's forum had the same initial outrage until people actually watched the alleged incident... http://s8.zetaboards.com/ratetheref/topic/8524879/2/

My thoughts exactly.

That's how I saw the incident. You could maybe argue that Barnes has bought his foot up high but I don't see any unnatural movement when he brings his foot down and I can't see that he's bought his foot down with any extra force.

Interestingly I checked a few videos on YouTube which I won't post on here because they are kind of graphic but I couldn't see any examples of anyone getting a broken leg from a similar challenge.

Appealing the ban feeds the mythology of a hard done by Chelsea. Maybe they'd get more decisions if there players were more honest. I'm looking at you ivanovic.
