I always find the game being dragged into politics fucking depressing tbh. Most working folk seek to escape the day to day misery of life through following football and other sports but it seems that once we've punished Russia, shown solidarity with Ukraine, taken a knee, done up our rainbow laces and had a minutes silence for something it's becoming a farce - particularly as we are all expected to tune in to the world cup in Qatar.
Spot on mate.

Get your point but I really liked all the Ukraine flags at the games, and City's top's when they came out. Let's show those people we support them.

I really like all the causes I mentioned, but they are all increasingly encroaching upon football which I personally believe should be an escape from the day to day. I don't want to have a wank, a pint or a joint etc invaded by the 24 hr news cycle and I don't want football invaded either. Between all this shit, advertising and var the 90 mins is getting sadly squeezed. I think the news cycle, social media and the right to protest are platform enough.

If we're talking historically and taking that into account, didn't Great Britain invade about one third of the world ?

Should that mean UK owners are "unfit" ?

This is it, it's hypocritical and certain people decide which wrong is the right wrong, if that makes sense? That isn't me downplaying the horrendous acts in the Ukraine but as much as I dislike a lot about Chelsea I'm not in the celebrating their current situation camp. You can bet our enemies and there are a lot out there, are sharpening their pencils to try and fetch us down too. I hope we are prepared.

Honestly, only a tiny bit I pity chelsea. I doubt it'd happen to us with the CFG setup but having to be sold by a good owner because of external circumstances sounds like a clubs worst nightmare.

God, this thread is disappearing up its own arse with whataboutisms.

There is no way Abramovich should have been owning a football club in the UK in the first place.

There is NO way to connect what is happening with Russia to the UAE, or Saudi Arabia, and anyone trying to do so, doesn't understand anything about anything.

Being reported funds not enough to cover match-day costs including security and medical requirements. If Chelsea can't fulfil fixtures then we lose 6 points and Liverpool lose 2.
