Not sure anyone is wanting them to "go under" - just a bit of piss taking at a possible downturn in their fortunes. After all, they took the piss out of us over losing last season's CL Final. Football fans will always take the piss out of each other and as bad as this may look for Chelsea, I can't see them being liquidated. Worst case scenario would be administration and a points deduction, and once a sale is agreed they can start afresh. In terms of where they might end up, I'm guessing that it will be no worse than lower-mid table in the Premier League and once they get their shit together they'll improve from thereon in.Never understand the gloating when a team may go under. The fans are just fans and to lose there team would be a horrible thing to happen because you can never replace your team.
im no fan of chelsea, at all, their fans can be as cunty as anyone, but no way would i want them gone.
i just imagine how id feel if City disappeared
The club can be sold though Abramovich however he has to prove to the government he will not receive a single penny from the sale.Who do potential buyers negotiate with?
Yep. You can't make exceptions for one of his assets just because it's a football club. In any case, I think the government has actually gone and made an exception of sorts and done as much as they can in order for Chelsea FC to keep playing matches and allowing at least their season ticket holders to watch them. If it was any other business, they might well have just ordered them to stop operating instead. It's not really that hard to understand.
The UK government have identified Abramovich of having extremely close ties with The Kremlin and the Russian government. One of his companies supply steel to the Russian government to make tanks.
As a result the UK government have seized all of his UK assets to stop him from making money in The UK.
Chelsea football club is one of his UK assets

The line was drawn when Putin's Russia invaded Ukraine in what was arguably the most naked act of aggression since Hitler's Germany invaded Poland in 1939 which has led to worldwide condemnation and wide-reaching sanctions being imposed.Ok, then why are the sponsors (Nike, 3) leaving or allowed to terminate contracts ? It's still an indirect link (providing steel which may be used to built tanks). Why not it be extended to find Sheikh Mansour's link to Abu Dhabi ruling family who are involved in war in Yemen and had a role in Libyan civil war ? Wasn't there a leaked email of Simon Pearce to UAE ministers ? Where is the line drawn ?
First of all I really don't know that much about the war in Yemen and I don't want derail a thread about Chelsea talking about politics. There's plenty of threads in off topic and politics with posters who are more clued up than me discussing this.Ok, then why are the sponsors (Nike, 3) leaving or allowed to terminate contracts ? They need to make it until the end of the season. If they do and manage to agree a sale then they'll be ok going forward I reckon, albeit having suffered a lot of damage in the meantime. It'll be tight but there might be a way of functioning until then. Players deferring part of their wages perhaps? They are either sold or they stop trading at the end of the season , apparently they have two months funding , maybe that could change if Nike pull out , very good chance they fold before the end of the season.

The conflict in Yemen - as ugly as it is - isn't the same regardless of how much the anti-City dickhead journalists would try and have us believe. The UAE haven't invaded Yemen - as far as I know, they (and Saudi Arabia) are there at the request of the Yemeni government and are also backed by the most powerful Western nations on earth. Moreover, the UAE doesn't have a lunatic at the helm with access to enough nucleur weapons to destroy the world many times over.
In short, unlike Abramovich City's majority owner isn't getting sanctioned by the UK government. Not now. Not ever.
If it's the fit and proper person thing then he's no less fit now than when he was allowed to buy the club surely?I get the wars are different. One final question. What UK laws did Abramovich violate by having indirect links to a war happening miles away from your shores ? If it is just the 'fit-and-proper' person test, isn't it enough to force him to sell ? Why make the club suffer ?
