Pep wont buy any player that he thinks is not up to snuff technically, whatever their other merits. (That's his little secret.)
Yeah I don't think we were ever in for him.

I do think Pep makes certain exceptions when it comes to technical ability though. Look at Walker and Sterling for example, neither are particularly gifted technically but what they provide off the ball in terms of pace, work rate and in Sterling's case great movement more than makes up for any technical deficiencies either of them have.

If Abraham's £35m move happens, Chelsea will have raised about £98m in player sales this summer which more or less funds the Lukaku transfer, so the middle bit is a little off the mark.

About why we don't get the same bad rep as City? Not sure. Maybe we've had our time as the big bad wolf of English football. Maybe you should hope for some Saudi investors take over another club so City can be looked as "not that bad" :)

Joking aside, I don't follow City news enough to know if you get battered in the media like that, but I don't think we get such an easy ride ourselves.
I don't think Chelsea get much positive coverage compared to the media darlings of MUFC and LFC. For example the CL win seems to have been airbrushed out of history while you constantly see footage of Liverpool in Europe. That said City are the real media targets these days.

Thanks for the reply. I know Chelsea don't have the easiest of rides from the press and other fans but what we get is on another level. I guess UEFA's failure to prove any wrongdoing flung a lot of crap our way which has stuck in the mends of many football fans.

Out of interest what are your expectations for Chelsea this season? - from the outside it looks like they will be very strong bit interested to hear your take.

What are we missing? I can see about £31m so far for Tomori and Moses.
