You will be fine and it will eventually come good under the right manager.

Money is not an issue as you rightly say other than I feel it’s been Boehly spending it rather than managers with a plan that’s been the problem.

I might be wrong but it just feels a bit kid in a sweet shop since he took over.

In the summer, he was definitely doing that but he was also being guided in a way by Tuchel and they eventually fell out because Tuchel didn't like that temporary set up. In January, Boehly was definitely leaning on the team he had put in place, sporting directors, recruitment specialists etc.

I do agree though, that the most important ingredient is the manager. Get that decision right, and we will be well on our way to competing again. Get it wrong, well it will just be more of the same.

Think from this summer the maximum clubs can spread a players contract is 5 yrs for amortisation purposes,I maybe wrong ?
I think you’re right but contracts signed before the date that rule comes in will be ok.

Extending his contract so they can spread his fee over a longer period. Clear that they're panicking over FFP.

His wage must be astronomical to agree to a 8.5 - 9 year deal.
Todd Boehly implementing american sports budgeting. Players constantly get their deals restructured for “cap space”.
Added complexity in football of wages and transfer fee and non performance based revenues (rather than largely fixed) make it a much harder exercise to plan for.
Desperate for some player sale profits

I said it's neither here nor there in relation to it being the reason Boehly is disliked.

Boehly and Clearlake will be at Chelsea for the long term. They have plans for the stadium, which are already underway. I guess they plan to find ways to increase our revenue, which is a must. They have a spent a lot some of it without a coherent plan, some of it (especially the January moves) with a plan.

I think a lot of the on pitch stuff will get resolved with the right coach. You can assemble the best players in the world but if you have a subpar coach leading them, it's hard to achieve anything. Hiring the right coach will put us on the right path again in terms of on pitch results. I have made my feelings perfectly known about who I want the next coach to be, and it isn't Nagelsmann.

The clear out isn't meant to be produce a long term plan.
Right. My confusion. Apologies. I dare say that Boehly has to learn, like everybody else. As you say, a collection of top players isn't enough and the new coach will have to make what he can of them, for the time being. As for bringing in revenue, and players, is the youth system as good as it was a few years back when I seem to recall Chelsea's youngsters generally getting the better of City's ?

I mean it’s hard to give you a rebuttal that come across as blind faith when we’re sitting in 11th place having the awful season we’re having but I just don’t share your negative outlook on my club or our future.

I don’t what Boehly has done to be so disliked. Yeah spent a lot of money but so have your owners, United and our old owner. It’s neither here nor there though. You’re allowed to think he’s an arrogant twat :)

It's not a spending thing, he can spend what he is allowed to. No problem. And you are right of course. I am sure he is a nice guy if you get to know him.

But I have worked with many super-rich guys like him, and I can recognise the type that doesn't know the border line between confidence and arrogance.

Anyway, sorry, don't want to derail the thread with my own pet peeves. As I said, I hope it comes together for you. Better you than others, but tough times ahead, I think.

Chelsea fire sale incoming:
Mateo Kovacic
Mason Mount
N'Golo Kante
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Christian Pulisic
Conor Gallagher
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Hakim Ziyech

We should keep an eye on their youngsters like Lewis Hall and Levi Colwill.
They won't get much for that bunch of wasters. Kante was obviously world-class at his peak but the rest of them are very poor.

It's still as wonderful as it was. City and Liverpool are supposedly interested in one of them right one, Levi Colwill. Your man Kompany will probably attest to the quality of Ian Maatsen. We've already seen Lewis Hall in and around the first team.
