They’ll probably take all the scouting coaches and their director of football with them and leave Brighton in a mess

Brighton’s owner is a smart cookie. He will have anticipated that Potter would go to a big club sooner or later and will already know his shortlist. I’m not well up enough on the championship to guess. Maybe a foreigner?
Some Norwegian bloke, Kjetil Knutsen, currently at Bodo Glimpt is favourite. There’s talk of Rogers and the Aussie at Celtic as well, but most of the money is on that Norwegian.
Given Blooms gambling history I’d imagine only small stakes would be allowed………

Bloom thinks ahead. He won't have picked this out of a hat this afternoon. I wonder if Potter recommended him.

They will chew him up and spit him out when he doesnt have them playing like us within the week
I very much doubt that. Why give him a 5 years contract unless they are preparing themselves for the time it takes to change their playing style. If they had any uncertainty it would have been a shorter contract. They do have a good squad to start with.

You have not followed them and firing managers with decent contracts then ?

Probably would have been easier and cheaper for Beohly to just buy Brighton. I've never heard of a manager taking their assistant head of recruitment with them. Potter was always my first choice if Pep were to leave, I think he's fantastic, the Chelsea squad is some way off being capable of playing like Potter likes though, they've just spubked £300 million on players that won't suit him, not sure how much more money he will be given and how much time he will get. If he's backed, he will make Chelsea a force in a few seasons, I'm not convinced he will get adequate backing and time though.

oh i have but that was Roman not their new owner which I think is a bit more pragmatic instead of instant success. I think this is a smart move by the new owners!

Ripped the heart out of the club. Not going to stop Potter going. Perhaps a big thank you for what he has done. Perhaps the best British manager around at the moment.

Feel for Brighton, looking like the club is ripped from inside out. But that's the ruthlessness of football.

Always liked watching Brighton, the football's attractive and there's an air of confidence in themselves when the players play.

As for Potter, this will be a huge test for him, now that there's resources at his disposal. There will be huge egos to manage and major expectations to deliver.

They got paid right?
Including they ripped off Chelsea with Cucurella, I don’t think they mind that much.

It’s by far more a gamble for Chelsea and Potter than for Brighton and whoever succeeds him. Unless it’s Fat Sam.
Seems to be Adam Lallana, temporarily at least.

They did take potter from Swansea, which had a huge negative impact on them.

What gamble?

A huge job, huge pay packet and a hugely ambitious coach.

He simply can't lose and signing that contact gives him lifetime financial security.

Good luck to him, great manager/coach in the making.

You are right, either way he will be fine/rich.

I suppose I meant a gamble for him in terms of where he is in his career or where he thinks he is. It'll certainly prove how good of a coach he is, I suspect he will go the way of most that drink from the poisoned chalice and be gone within a year or two, but he'll never have a bother getting another gig and he'll be handsomely rewarded regardless of success or failure with Chelsea. All the best to him until they play us, then he can fuck off.
