Given their current state, it might have been better spending the ongoing £1bn outlay on a new stadium, whilst following the Brighton model of buying players and using their own stockpile of their academy.
For a ‘top’ team to have a stadium like theirs (ditto united) is verging on … well not criminal… but certainly naive stupidity.
Arsenal built theirs and iirc, paid it off a few years ago - it took them a longtime and the football pain (for them) was obvious to see, but now they have the benefits
Tottenham, for all the crap thrown at Levy, they have a spanking new stadium, have unloaded their fading talisman ( I was looking at hattrick stats - Kane hadn’t scored one for 5+ years in PL), and have, potentially, signed a decent un hyped manager after umpteen ‘names’ since Poch seemed to come out of nowhere.
Question: does Arsenal stadium do anything other than host Arsenal? I don’t recall other sports, concerts etc? Looks like a bad design if that’s the case.
