Hardly the point when responding to ‘why should they take a pay cut?’ as I was.
Interestingly City did not give KdB the choice, there was a hint he would have taken a cut to stay with City.
But he didn't take a pay cut to play, so it was exactly the point

Players who won’t take a pay cut and thus stay put and not get minutes do my head in. Apart from the fact that their life is supposed to be about playing football, forgive me if I have little sympathy for a player who has to struggle by on £150,000 per week instead of £250,000.
I reckon I could just about manage on £7.8m pa.
Are players currently employed in Trafford excepted?

They should be fighting on all fronts now, I don't get why they are afforded so many excuses. Why are they outsiders still?

If they are not in the title race and Champions League race, then when will they be? They should be seen as a serious CL contender around the same tier as Bayern now.

I

Market or not; if they shell out that sort of money for him, they need locking up.

I notice you didn't try to argue that he is worth 90m!

Because he is not ;)

But if the market says he is, then he is.

We're living in an era where certain strikers and forwards are going for £70m+ of whom 15 years ago would struggle to get into mid-table teams.

Jackson would be playing for a club like Burnley 15 years ago.

90m? Seriously? He's not worth 40m.

No way can Chelsea get 80-90m on a player they are actively trying to push out. Maybe if the Rags lose out on Sesko, they'd be desperate enough. If Newcastle loses out on Sesko, they'd just keep Isak instead.

Colwill done his ACL apparently.

That’ll be them dipping back into the market, no doubt. A perfect excuse.

That's Colwills world cup dream over too. Might be back for it but he surely wont get selected after a year out. Harsh on him.

That leaves Chelsea with a problem. CB was already by far their weakest outfield position. I think i heard Fofana isnt far off a return after his injury, he was a fantastic prospect but after consecutive season ending injuries im not sure he'll be the same player.

While reading about Colwill, I found out that Guehi had come through the Chelsea set up.
Bit of a slip up there.

This is Chelsea we are talking about and they have agreed with Uefa as part of their sanction that they will balance their transfer activity this summer. That being said there will be some completely bullshit sale for Jackson and others with massively inflated values that helps with that.
