This is a man who is an egomaniac on a pathological level. There is no way he will countenance being on the touchline to witness a repeat of scenes like we saw after the final whistle in our game at Anfield if he can avoid it.

Don't believe the crap coming out of his mouth.
I really am quite bemused at your reaction. To play a weakened team would be very Mourinho. Aside from being pragmatic, and aside from being logical as he has an excellent chance to progress to the final of club football's biggest competition but little chance of winning the league and into the bargain grow his ego by being the first person to win the Champions League with three different clubs, and aside from sheltering his ego from the risk Liverpool beating his best team, he has a chance to stick two fingers up at the FA - who are another umbrella he hides his ego under.
So you believe the crap coming out of his mouth?

I do. I suspected this would happen as soon as they got through against PSG and I saw how the semi fixtures were going to fall and was certain once they had lost last weekend. The fact that Rodgers is one of his bum chums just makes me more certain because I think it takes away that pathological element out of the situation where he will desperately not want to see Liverpool celebrating. I don't think he will be arsed. He's an odd bloke though so who knows.

Your last sentence sums it up tbh. We're all trying to second guess a man who is clinically insane!

Do I believe he'll play a weakened team at Liverpool where there's very little possibility of any gain, so that he has a better chance of getting into the Champions League final? Yes, I believe that.

If Mourinho really did this, he would damage his reputation and the reputation of CFC

What worries me more is that he can pick a strong team, but will they give 100%.

Can't get too annoyed about it at the moment as you can't trust a word he says.
If we were in the chavs position I'd be pissed off if pellegrini picked the likes of aguero, silva, kompany, fern, zabs,ya ya for a meaningless game when a CL final is at stake 3 days later

He plays weakened team to much tutting and sucking of teeth. Scousers feel extra cocky and relax, thinking this is one in the bag for the 96. Chelsea win 1-0. We win the league.

destiny, I tell yer...

They have no chance of winning the title
You can get 50/1 on them doing so & tbh I wouldn't take 1000/1

I don't particularly think Liverpool will relax but I do think it is arguable that a fresh team with lots to prove could potentially perform better than a tired team with one eye on the 2nd leg. That said the probablilities are that if he puts out a weakened team it won't help Chelsea get a result.

The defeat at home to Sunderland is the biggest factor in Mourinho's decision to play a weakened side on Saturday. Even if Terry & Cech hadn't gone off injured, I don't think he'd have played full strength.

Had they beaten Sunderland, then yes of course he would. The title would have been in his hands, after all.

That being said, the team he will put out wont be *that* week. He's not got the strength in depth to do that, for starters.

Can't see Hazard playing though, as Mourinho will want him fit for the CL next week.

vs Liverpool

Schwarzer
Azpilicueta-Ivanovic-Luiz-Cole
Mikel-Matic
Salah-Lampard-Schurrle
Ba

vs Atletico

Schwarzer
Azpilicueta-Ivanovic-Cahill-Cole
Ramires-Luiz
Schurrle-Oscar-Hazard
Torres
