Can anyone access Chelseas average home attendance some time in the 1980s
when I am sure they were getting less than 20 k.
A Chelsea fan at work has just had a dig at City fans singing of WWYWYWS
to Chelsea fans and I want to go back to him with these figures....

Any help appreciated....

That's since 1992 but still shows a lot

Chelsea has to advertise their champions league tickets frequently on Talksport to sell their tickets, some qualifiers they don't even sell out.

Chelsea has never had a huge fanbase and attracted a lot of glory hunters the last 5-6 years

Arsenal and Spurs probably have quadruple the amount of Chelsea fans in London/home counties

I was stood in Stamford Bridge many a time in the eighties in 17,000 crowds (or thereabouts) on that sparcely populated open end of theirs ...... they built that stand down the side , where the tunnel is , and couldn't really fill it ...... Chelsea were nothing back then , other than a club who were thought of as being fashionable , due to their Kings Road location ..... their crowds only increased during better and more fruitful times , such as the introduction of the Premiership , and the wealth arriving.

A link to the all time attendance records circa 2008.
It seems chelsea's is higher than city. Their crowds could'nt of been that poor before the russians money.

I remember being at a Monday night Prem match at Stamford Bridge in 93-ish when the "crowd" just broke 10,000.

I was there that night and could not believe how poor the chelsea crowd were. Chelsea were not a bad side at the time managed by hoddle and if I remember Ruud Hulitt scored a cracker. I thought it was just under 10,000 though.

Chelseas attendance since the war compared with Citys.

Seems City has always had bigger crowds.

There you go pal. All time low in the early 80's of less than 13000.
