first half he played well but as soon as Cancelo came on, we scored from his direct play.

Cancelo is the best full back I’ve ever seen at City

Cancelo has been excellent this season.

The fact he was bang average last season makes this even more impressive imo.

I now "trust" him and am happy when I see his name in the line up.

Just thinking again about Mendy, cancello got a load of stick and then had a run of games to play him self into form. Maybe Ben will get that chance too. Mahrez has flashes but can’t do it consistently. Poor signing

He's great when he has the ball. A bit dodgy defensively though but fortunately we don't have to do too much defending.

I’ve never seen a full back so good going forward in this country.

We avoided what would have been the most embarrassing defeat in our history. Very lacklustre performance. Clearly 10 changes contributed to that lethargic performance. However, nobody can deny we deserved to win, but Foden, Gundogan and Cancelo saved our blushes... particularly the blushes of Jesus & Mahrez, who were both shocking. Think Pep will have learnt a few things about his fringe players.

Sadly for Mendy, he needs to be moved on in the Summer. Didn't offer anything tonight. He's now just picking up a wage, and taking up a place in the squad.

He really is shockingly bad. Since his injury he has become a liability.

I am often saddened by the super critical and nasty comments aimed at certain players in our club together with loads of moans and complaints.

So.

I would like to point out a couple of really positive things from tonight's contest, just in case the Twisted Knickered Brigade overlooked them...

1) We won.

2) We're through to the next round.

What more do we want in a knockout competition?
