how'd they do in the transfer market under these two? Were they in charge of the Ibra debacle or did they move on before then

Soriano was there from 2003 to 2008 as vice-president, Begiristain from 2003 to 2010 as director of football and was the "deal-maker".

Begiristain got them Alves, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Yaya, Keita, Pique, Abidal, Henry. On the flip side were Ibrahimovic and Hleb I suppose but Ibra was a bit unlucky really, he scored plenty of goals still but just didn't suit the Barca style enough for Pep. He seems to be a good negotiator and got Yaya for £7.5m!

cheers. Hopefully Mancini will get on with them. Aggravating when a manager heads to the exit for a disagreement with the board and not for performance matters.

Is this true? :

Ferran Soriano has decided to accept #mcfc's offer to become the club's new CEO and will take Txiki Begiristain with him. [Economia Digital]

The Spanish duo will assume similar roles to what they had at Barcelona where they took the club to great new heights commercially.

The muddled translation is above, it's a Spanish financial paper that claims to have sources that have said he's agreed to take the role. Looks almost definite now that he'll be here which should thankfully mean no Mourinho as Soriano hates him.
