Just read the story, what that little boy went through is horrific...sounds like cops are to blame here though, it was reported to them twice a few days apart. Sounds like they didn't give a fuck.
I can’t speak for them all but some clearly don’t give two shits.
There was a lovely Asian family (mum, dad and teenager) who lived at the top of the Avenue where my house is. My late Dad lived next door but one to them.
Over a period of a couple of years things went TU, the Dad lost his job and started drinking heavily, whisky mostly, after a while he told me he was getting divorced as his wife had had enough. It wasn’t a surprise as the Police were there nearly every week to calm him down as he went into a rant in the house. The final straw came when he turned the gas on in his kitchen and stood in there holding a box of matches, his wife got the Police out again and all the neighbours (including my Dad who was 87) were evacuated. The issue managed to be resolved and no one was hurt.
The next week the Police were back again, as they were arresting him I was at my Dad’s so I went outside to talk to a WPC, she was aware of his history so I asked why don’t the Police get Social Services or Alcohol abuse specialists to see him to try and help not just him but the wife and kid as well. She said “ it’s nothing to do with us, we just attend when asked”. As I tried to put a different viewpoint over she just told me she wasn’t going to get involved and had absolutely zero interest in helping him.
Funnily enough my mate bought the house after the family left, it’s got a huge back garden that was unkempt, my mate was still finding whisky bottles a good few months after he moved in, mostly whilst sorting the garden out but also in the loft, shed and even under the floorboards, very sad.
