Children’s ages for holidays

Don’t know about that. I’ve just paid about £400 each for an all inclusive in a nice Spanish hotel that we’ve been to before, in the April school holidays next year.

Flights
Transfers
Decent hotel with a mini water park
7 nights food and drink
Kids entertainment every day.

You’d do well to pay for that as you go along separately for anything like that price. Plus there’s nothing to do in an apartment.
Guess we're all different and if that's what you're looking for fair enough, we always had apartment holidays, and my kids loved them and think it gave them my passion for travel off the beaten path,my daughters currently travelling in South East Asia and I like to think we've passed that sense of adventure on to her and her brother. For me can't think of anything worse than a mini water park,7 nights food and drink, kids entertainment every day.

Fair enough. I’m not trying to sell all inclusive holidays to people who aren’t into that sort of thing.

It was more the comment about them being expensive. We have a favourite seaside hotel in England that we all like and go to quite often. But it’s more expensive to go there for a week than it is to go to Spain. And that’s before you even start on food and drink.

My daughter has turned 12 and now we have to pay adult prices on holidays, how can this be allowed, for example on an all inclusive shes not allowed to drink alcohol and doesn’t eat half as much as an adult. Why has no one ever questioned this, maybe there should be an middle price for 12-18 young adults, the average holiday jumps by about £5/600 for a week all inclusive from the age 11 to 12.
Teenagers eat more calories than adults.

We had a holiday two years ago which over extended the six weeks holiday by two days Derbyshire Education authority tried to fine us £180 i appealed and won as I gave them notice.
My two probably learnt more in that week than two months in school.
There’ll be an inset day into the run to Christmas trust me !!
My daughters school do skiing trips in January when she will be about 15/16, it’s £1500 now, so I expect it to be more in 3 years. She doesn’t like skiing has zero interest, so I’m going to see if we can grab some winter sun that week, I’d like to see their response when I request time off, if she can miss school for a week skiing she can certainly miss it to go to get some sun at the same time.

I don’t know why people insist on taking schools on over missing a few days for a holiday?

Just tell them they’re not well. It’s easier for you. It’s easier for the schools.

Not usually a few days, holiday companies have got wise to this you need to go a week or two before, our school want a doctors not after 3 days!

A doctor’s note? I’ve never heard of that and I’ve had kids in various schools for the best part of 30 years.

What do they say if you tell them to get fucked?

I’ve spoken to numerous teachers off the record over the years and they’ve all said pretty much the same thing. That they’d rather not know about it. Then they’re not obliged to deal with it.

The fines for taking kids out of school are pretty lenient imo. They can miss 5 full days in a rolling 10 week period with no fine being issued. In effect that’s 15 days spread evenly over the school year. Not really an issue if you yourself have no issue taking them out of school.

Last couple of years we’ve taken them out a couple of days either before or after a half term week. Good savings to be made doing that without taking them out for a whole week in the middle of a term.

All changed that now it’s a rolling 3 year period
