China v India

They have been at it since the 60s, russia and china have the same sporadic skirmishes across there borders and I have been on the Thai Burmese border when they have shelled each other.

Seems.these things are quite rare now but errupt every so often then simmer down.

It’s not totally different, no. Both entail(ed) conquest and exploitation to further our national ends.

Who did we exploit in the Falklands?

They were both totally different.

- nobody died when we took over the Falklands

- no one was oppressed

- we didn’t change a country

- in India millions died

- million’s were oppressed

- culture and politics was changed for ever there

We have subsequently exploited the Falklands (strategically and economically)

Plenty died subsequently

Possibly not

We manifestly did. It’s still a British territory.

The percentage change in deaths since we took over the Falklands is far higher than in India

Agreed

Likewise

People need not have died if Argentina hadn't a fascist junta that wanted to invade someone else’s territory just because it was near to them.

As I say, these were cold, wet, desolate islands in the South Atlantic, with not a soul on them.

Laying claim and building a town on there is different than us occupying Ireland against their will.

The Empire did many wrong things and oppressed many people but I’d rank the Falkland Islands at the bottom of the immoral stakes.

As this thread is on india and china I will only say this about the falklands.

The argentinians have a better sounding name for it tbf.
