Chinese OSCs, Shenzhen Blues + Sun Jihai + Shenzhen Peng City FC

We're establishing clubs globally to allow the parent group to raise their profile of ultimately City's name. I see no wrong in tapping a market to ensure longetivity. The word dynasty has been banded around in football (and Chinese history) for many years, what ahrm is there in trying to create the next true dynasty of global football? China, Melbourne, New York and Yokohama have something City can assist with and build on. This club and the partnership clubs have a vision. You can't win everything, but you can ensure you're leading the next wave of growth. If you think Bayer, Barca, Real madris, Inter Milan, AC Milan, ManUre, Chelsea, Arsenal, Juve etc haven't done or tried it, you're kidding yourself. The difference is, we're building from the foundation up and not just flogging shirts.

very good but City will have a team in Beijing soon and not anywhere else

Is this just your own thoughts, or have you heard information about it? If there are any articles in the media about this, I'd be really interested to read them.

Does this spending increase or decrease the chances of us owning a club, aside from City the owners have avoided high spending leagues. Also I am really not sure what clubs are available given the type of owners the clubs have but cannot see us going for a lesser team or setting up a new team in one of the expanding resort type cities

'We' wouldn't necessarily need to spend big though - just give them access to the shared facilities of the group and allow it to be owned by the guy who owns the TV station. Call it Beijing City FC, give it the same 'City' moniker and round badge and everyone benefits.

The clubs in China are spending now so why would they not need to spend to do well which is crucial for the brand ? Yes we can offer them more than money and yes these things will save money and make money but players can still cost a fortune as we have found out despite our system saving us money and make us money revenue wise

Read it again - basically we can franchise out the name to a club owned by the Chinese and give them access to our football expertise, for a fee. They do all the investing to make sure they're competitive and they get to use the brand, the coaching methods etc.

Don't forget, that Chinese TV mogul owns about 13% of the CFG, so it's all his own money he's playing with, increasing turnover in the CFG, a percentage of which gets paid to MCFC for the expertise and use of facilities, but none of which costs Abu Dhabi any money, unless they want to.

This is where the whole business plan is years ahead of anything anyone else in football, maybe in world sport, has done before. This isn't about selling a few knock off shirts to get a bigger sponsorship deal

I suspect that we'll be announcing some kind of franchise/CFG club, when we visit China in the summer, supported by all the City brand, and also that we might have a few playing assets who would like to go there for the money that is likely to be available for a final pay day.

Win win for City, the way Chinese football is heading, especially having a stake there already.

I dont need to read it again I agreed with you we can offer them the brand access to facilities info etc. So far tho CFG have s far as we know only sold info and access to facilities to business they have stakes in with the possible exception of the minor teams who we are in partnership with for youth development and visa purposes and the Ghana FA hardly anything important unlike the market of over a billion in a superpower with an economy with a growth rate of over 6% and potential to over take the USA. Equally though we know that with the exception of City CFG have only invested in leagues where spending /investment is restricted

The problem in China is the same one as America. As long as football isn't the number one sport, they're never going to be producing the quality of players that Europe/South America/Africa do. Football is the most competitive sport in the world, so to be successful, you need all of the sporty kids in schools to want to play football. In China, I suspect that football is left to the few that are really into it, whereas the most talented kids will go onto something like badminton or table tennis. And I can't see the Chinese government being too keen on promoting a sport as competitive as football, when they can get loads of Olympic medals by simply pumping loads of money into more niche sports. I honestly think somewhere like the Middle East would be a more fruitful area for us. But China would fit in with our strategy of investing in countries where the sport isn't actually that big (presumably more potential for growth there). I not sure how likely the investments in the US and Australia are to deliver any Premier League quality players though. I don't know if that's even an aim.

Ho Chi Man City?
The thing is the president is a huge fan of football and he seems to be pushing the country to get behind it and will put money in and it will change. 57m was turned down for Oscar from China last week and they signed Ramires. We desperately want our own team but obviously it isn't done yet

Sun played a day or so after receiving his award in Manchester at the Football Museum. He left Chongqing Lifan for Guizhou Renhe and from all accounts in local media is deeply tied in with his academy (which seems to be our academy). I'd post news but it does not translate so well.

Sun is a hero in China. Check out his Weibo star profile (like Facebook).

He has profiles everywhere and is regarded as China's first proper football star.

Is that his wife?
