Chinese president may have revealed his true colours: according to an official schedule he will be blue rather than red when he visits the UK next week.

On Friday, during a trip to Manchester to hear about the UK’s plans to revive northern cities by creating a “northern powerhouse”, Xi Jinping will visit the Etihad stadium, home of Manchester City, snubbing their fierce rivals Manchester United.

Aye, I know the Chinese investments at Airport City (and latterly the Great Northern Warehose...possibly Middlewood Locks) and ADUG at Fallowfield, Ancoats (even the new leisure Cente at Hough End) but wondering if this meeting is about a collaborative effort for the collar site destination?

Been the case for years. We as a Nation invest in infrastructure and then sell it (privatise) at a knocked down rate to others to get the benefit. They then milk it dry and into decay, what will be left with?

London is overheated in a development sense.. For us as a nation it would be much better if investments was more spread out, hence the Osborne plan

Not sure if it's common knowledge or not, but I discovered yesterday that City are setting up an academy in Shanghai. China are going balls deep with investment into football coaching and facilities and want to win the World Cup within 20 years. City want to be a part of it. So that could be a reason why he'd go to the Etihad instead of the swamp.
