Chinese State Visit to CFA (23/10/2015)

George Osborne is in fact a City fan.

Please tell me this isn't true. For a moment, a very very brief moment, on the strength of this shocking news, I almost contemplated........ no I can't even say it. Thankfully it's past now and I'm recovered...

George was in the Junior Blues and - if asked this week - George's favourite player was Sun Ji Hi

The Chinese president is visiting the stadium this week, so what's in it for the club. New Chinese sponsor perhaps?

Apparently Xi Jinping and his delegation were lobbied by Birmingham to visit there after London and accepted the invitation, however Mr Xi was persuaded against that decision and was made aware of the Goverments plans and proposals for a 'Northern Powerhouse' centred on Manchester ! Putting aside any political ideas and thoughts on human rights issues, I ca'nt help feeling that this could be a very VERY BIG coup in the offing for Manchester and MCFC ? I do hope so, just wonder what it could be.
As a side note (perhaps should be in media bias topic) i noticed the BBC News web site gives a day to day break down of his itinary, his trip to Manc is to be a visit to the University, then a reception at the airport and he flys home from there !!!! Ermm hav'nt you missed a rather large and important visit to the Etihad there !

So are we saying London is slowly being bought by Russian gangster's and god's own garden of Eden is being developed by two of the world's richest countries?

Nope.

UN economic sanctions have hit Russia hard. The Russian money in London is money that got out before sanctions hit (there is rather a lot of it, I know). No new Russian money has come in for quite a time. It's part of the reason why the rate of annual increase in the London housing market has halved in the last year.

MIPIM UK tomorrow with Chinese PM visiting the Manchester Stand at 2.30.

That mipim event i'd somehow forgotten about, thanks for the heads up WW. It may be the case that some news will filter through tomorrow afternoon hopefully, with more to come in Manchester on Friday, that said any wrangling and deals will most certainly have been finalised prior to Jinpings visit, and his tour is just to launch them into orbit with a blaze of publicity ! A leader of his power has'nt come over just for a full english with the Duke of Lancaster at Buck house and fish n chips at Tonys.
