Being from the self proclaimed greatest city in the world they probably can't deal with the fact that their club is an afterthought when the main action is in Manchester.
 
Another for the much needed academy restock. Can't sell from the academy at the rate we have been over the last couple of years without bringing in outside blood to replenish the ranks.

Likelihood is most if not all of these kind of signings will never play a significant role at first team level for us but it all helps to keep the academy pumping out professional footballers and funding the cycle.

Everybody is labelled the next "insert name" nowadays. Its lost all meaning if it ever had any. I'm not saying he's not a talent, he likely is, I think you have to be to be of any interest to our academy but he's very much an academy signing right now not a first team signing. Obviously the hope is as many academy players as possible develop into first teamers but the reality is most don't but as we've seen, they don't need to to make us some good money.

I'm just glad we're bolstering the academy, as good as we've been at producing our own, we can't do that constantly, have to be taking the best talents we can find from elsewhere too.
 
At 18 surely he should be in and around the first team squad? Maybe reason we arent buying a left back? Only a year between him and reiss.

CFG and partners burned up a certain amount of goodwill around here with the stadium delay and demands for tax advantages. But more simply, NYCFC supporters are usually not City supporters and don't want to lose players to a club they don't care about.
