is he better than coentrao
I don't think so. Just based on how we play, our wingplay and crosses are predominantly supposed to come from the fullback, Hence why I think it is a mistake searching for midfield crossers. The real problem lies with our fullbacks general inability to put in good crosses. Micah, Zab, Boyatta, Kolarov and Boateng have all shown a weakness in that area. This is why we have a great shortage of crosses into the box for headers. Many team's play the same system we do, and predominantly the Fullbacks do the crossing. Picheck/Shmetzel (Dortmund), Maicon/nagata (Inter), Alvaro/Fucile (Porto), Coentrao/Maxi or Filipe(Benfica). Cole/Bosingwa(Chelsea), Shwaab/Kadlec or Castro
(Leverkusan).

Thus, if we want better service in the box, then we need to improve the servers at fullback. Personally Daniel Schwaab is the best RB out there going forward that I have seen. On the left, there seems to be many who do a good to great job creating in box chances; Coentrao, Alvaro Pereira, Contento, Enrique and Baines. To name a few. These guys are supremely better at Fullback/Midfielder interchange, and putting in a telling cross.

If we want to improve our team, this is the area of greatest weakness. I know most love Micah, and many want to give Kolarov a chance. And both will probably eventually be solid defenders and add 2 or 3 goals themselves. As Micah is fantastic in the air and Kola has a shot on him. But as for team play replacing those 2 with Schwaab and Coentrao will shoot us into the Top teir strata of football. Personally I think Micah will be a fantastic CB next to Kompany. That way we can still utilize his strenght, athletism speed and Air dominance, while continuing to improve general team play on the outsides.

Brilliant post! I've never seen this Schwaab, the only Leverkusen match I've seen was the 1-3 drubbing against Dortmund.

Jose Enrique seems a safe bet if we're looking for quality on the left. He's Prem proven.

Apperently Jose Enrique is going to Liverpool but i ont know how true it is. I would like any of Cissokho or coentrao. I quite like that Richards as CB idea but if not we could go for Subotic or Hummels.

If City go for another left back in the summer, Enrique from Newcastle would be a good option, he's been fantastic this season, I know when he first arrived in England he came with a good reputation, and it did take him a while to settle, however now he is buzzing, I suspect he wouldn't be know where near as expensive as other options either.

Coentrao is the best option for us with our style of play. Dont agree about Micah playing CB it's been tried many times, he's even been played in midfield and that didn't work either. His best position is rightback in the same way that Boateng's best position is at CB

Enrique is definitely a solid player, which he has definitely started showing especially recently. However, I think that Coentrao is certainly the more gifted option although with a steeper price tag and lack of Premiership experience.

If someone thought that Mancini would even consider signing Baines can forget it. Watching the United-Everton game....Baines is the kind of left-back Mancini would never sign.

Very short and he got physically owned by Valencia. And Mancini prefers physical defenders.

We really can't judge how Micah will perform at CD based on past performance (which by the way were mostly good performances- check preseason). But even if he wasn't good 2 years ago, that would have been a function of his inconsistent form at the time (as opposed to his inability to play the position well). Lest we forget, he was looking terrible at RB then too.

That said, we have to try before we know if he'll succeed. His Strenght, Speed, Size and Athleticm suggests he'd be a stud at CD eventually (A better version of Distin perhaps) As for Leftbacks, I am not too focused on Coentrao, being that he'd probably be the most expensive one on the move over the summer. We shouldn't zero in too much on any one player. Just the type of player. Their are good bargains to be had, and we shouldn't missout coz we are busy focusing on 1 guy. I would like Coentrao, but we have a decent LB in Kolarov (a stout defender) so what we need might be a swap partner. Which makes Alvaro, Cotento, Enrique and Baines all options.
