Well, City winning TikTok and WhatsApp speaks for itself — the youth have chosen sky blue over the past decade.Social media has evolved from Facebook to TikTok via Instagram and now we have What'sApp Channels
What this survey doesn't do is to determine what the affect of the most recent iterations of social media, the ones used by the younger generation, has on the numbers
I did a quick check and City are the most followed on TikTok and What's App Channels its only if Instagram is included that the rags just beat City
The rags have 85M FaceBook followers with City lagging behind with 51M
I would argue that the most relevant numbers are with the newest app and not legacy ones like FB which the younger generation don't use

X isn't there.
The Scousers have a massive following in X. It's their go to social media platform. X keep on pushing Scouse shite to me. It's annoying as fuck.
We're miles behind the Rags on Instagram. I wonder why that is?
Well I really am that thick cos I don't know how to change it..... :-).At least you found an alternative Username 8-)

its also doesnt take much of a shortened form...'Eck'...I have known scousers who call petrol 'petty' and emulsion 'mully'...lad.The only reason the scousers have a massive following on X is because that's the only platform they can spell.
I think the original data was published by the CIES Football Observatory https://football-observatory.com/WeeklyPost508 (a Swiss based research group). There's more data here than was picked up by other websites. The link is useful in showing that Manchester City are a bigger club than Liverpool, Arsenal etc. How 'big' a club is is endlessly argued about but social media weighting is one way to measure the influence of a club. From MSN News:
16 Most Followed Football Clubs in England Ranked in New Study
Surprisingly, Manchester City are one place above Liverpool, with 179.5m social media followers. Pep Guardiola's side became one of the most dominant teams in the history of English football following the former Barcelona manager's arrival and that form has seen them become one of the most followed teams in the country. They've got a long way to go before they catch up to their local rivals, though. Manchester United, despite all their struggles lately, are by far the most followed team in England, with 233.6m social media followers.
