City accounts on bluesky

One thing I find annoying at Blue Sky is it seems to be populated with cunts who want to chat to you.

I have no small talk and really don't want to tell some random woman in Arizona what my day was like. What do you think it was like? I flew my private helicopter to Monaco, spent 30p in the Casino and then went on to Whitby for haddock and chips.

I use X but never engage with anyone on there, and because I never click on the "for you" tab and stay on the "following" I only get exposed to the bellends and bots if I look in the comments of some of the accounts I follow.

I also use it on Brave browser which pretty much gets rid of all the ads.

I've joined Bluesky, using it via Brave again to see what it's like, but just sitting quietly in the background as usual until a conversation starts that I feel I can contribute to.
I really can't be arsed with boring football "banter" with the children or get in any discussions with angry cunts and attention seekers on social media.

Nice to see this thread pop up. I've felt pretty uncomfortable using the disaster that is X for a while now. I never wanted to sign up for it in the first place, but as someone that is following City from across the pond it was always the best way to get timely team and transfer news. I'm glad City Xtra is over there as it should be all I need to get started.

Quite a few Bundesliga clubs are closing their twitter accounts and joining bluesky instead
Not long before most clubs and businesses make the switch, there is no engagement on X that is beneficial to them that can't be done elsewhere.

Just in the process of deleting my X posts, so thought I'd take a look at a couple of City posts this morning. Combined they had about 125 replies and I reckon maybe just the 1 post was a legitimate response and not a bot or for bait engagement.

People look at the blanket numbers and say Bluesky can't compete but actual human engagement per post is way higher. That's why journalists have had no issue making the switch. Less followers but way more interaction.

Getting used to it now, I’m pretty impressed so far, some nice touches in it. It’s just nice to see algorithms working based on the user again, feels like a long time ago now when Twitter used to have it.

Right I’ve signed up let’s hope it’s better than that shit show by Musk.

Once big social accounts start moving I expect an avalanche and X collapsing.

I know the Brits appear to have given up on free speech but some still think of it as a basic human right.
Isn’t it freedom of speech to post where you want?

Some might say that Bluesky has better freedom of speech as you aren’t marginalised by an algorithm or if you pay.

That’s before trying to work out if you are conversing with a human or a bot.

I've had three twitter accounts over the last 15 years and all of them were permanently suspended for calling people cunts within the last two years. Well, Tory MPs and Nigel Farage, so not really people.

Anyway, I've never been able to terminate those accounts with the suspensions in place. Found out I can appeal the suspensions and let Twitter know I'm appealing just so that I can close the accounts. They've removed the suspensions on all three accounts citing that they had made a mistake in perma-banning the accounts in the first place.

Weird how they didn't come to that conclusion when I appealed at the time they suspended the accounts.

Anyway, managed to terminate all three of them. I'll see how BlueSky fares before signing up.
