Seriously though it's such a specialised role that only certain players can do it well.
Need someone who is fairly injury-free (not such as Gordon) vocal and selfless on the training field and good enough to do a respectable job in the unwelcome event of being pressed into service.

Would love Freidel For the job but don't think he'd do it.

Gunnar Nielsen is on the Austrian tour, so looks like he might be given a chance to prove himself after 2 major injuries... Anybody know if he was offered / has sighed a contract extension, as he was on the list of unretained players?

The EDS goalkeeper Erik Johansen announced on Twitter a few days ago that he was happy to announce signing a new contract with City.
By the sounds of what he writes on there he likes being at the club and is developing well. Maybe he will be thrid choice?

It'd make sense to have a 3rd choice who is still playing regularly in the EDS and is there as cover during match days as the EDS play during the week.

Someone like Cudicini would be my shout, not necessarily him though.

It is unlikely (touch wood) that the 3rd choice keeper would have to be called upon throughout a season. If Johansen was to spend more time training and being involved in match day routines he would certainly develop.

On the Cudicini idea, he will not be up for playing 3rd choice!
I fully have confidence in Johansen and don't see why he shouldn''t be given the chance... also as people say we have Gunnar Nielsen.
