City agree fee for Jack Rodwell

The more I think about this the more I realize this is a very good transfer, especially if the fee was as low as reported.
Is he a long term replacement for Barry, or maybe an immediate for Nigel?

I doubt he replaces anyone this season. In another two years he's bona fide first team regular, bunt this season is physio and training. I wish we had signed DDR to mentor him through.

I mean, the only people he's replacing this season are Hargreaves and Pizarro.

The rags were all chirpin up about the rodwell deal today, all having a good laugh, for the life of me i can't see why. £12m for a 21 year old england international, whats bad about that.

The one dipper fan we have was pissing himself, comparing the joe allen signing to rodwell, its was if they had resurrected zico or something

What a deluded bunch the red dippers are.

Rodwell or Allen for the same fee is a no brainer, we've got a good deal.

I see the Marwood threads are dropping off the page now?

Personally I think Allen will be an excellent signing long term. That doesn't make Rodwell any less of a great signing though.

I'm not convinced at all then after speaking to an everton ST holder today at work, he doesn't give two flying shits he's gone. Said not enough forward passes to play in a team like city. This is something de Jong has started to improve on aswell.

Its all about confidence in your teammates. Barcelona make some risky passes knowing full well they will get it back in 30 seconds.

Agree.

The qualities you need to play in City's midfield are not necessarily ones that will make you shine in Everton's midfield. Provided Rodwell is technically good (and I haven't seen enough of him to say, but wouldn't expect that to really come through at Everton as they're not primarily a technical side) he should do well here.
