Would I be right in thinking that Vinnie's statue is the first statue of a person of colour outside of London or Cardiff? (And I can't think of any in Ireland either).

Just an observation, by the way. I hope I'm not seen as posting this in a patronising "aren't we great" sort of way.

Whenever I see Lemn Sissay on tv or hear his poems it always reminds me of Maine road as used to get off the 42 at Hardys well (Birch Villa) and would often read the poem on the side wall while stood outside having my first pint of the day.

Distin lived in the Altrincham area for ages after he left City and retired from football. My Sister used to work ag the Nursery he sent his kids to.
