City And Brugge Playing Out The End Of The Game Knowing They Had Both qualified

i was disappointed in the City crowd. No keep ball Ole’s!

That keep ball 15 minutes must have been shit to watch on TV.

Fair play to the commentator , who tried to make it interesting by saying Bruges may still not qualify when stuttgart needed 3 in last 10 minutes to qualify

It was a bit weird, when we went in front, they started having a go, then suddenly stopped playing, I had no idea what was what, but it became obvious they weren't interested, so people around started looking, and realised there was no need for them to try.

I'm not sure that is great for football, but in the first game against Inter, neither team seemed arsed either, both assuming they'd get through, and us "assuming" we'd get enough points for top 8.

Not sure the new format is that great, but it's given less favourable teams a chance so UEFA might think that is good, as will bigger teams knocking each other out in the qualifiers.

It was great!
The only time in the 90 I felt comfortable
Last thing I wanted was for them trying to score…they would probably have got at least 1

You sometimes see this happen at the Euros or WC in a 3 game group. It's happened before on the final day of the season where a draw has been good enough for 2 relegation threatened opponents to both stay up.

Either they've known it going into the game or they've realised it during the last 20-30 mins with scorelines elsewhere impacting the game as it did tonight.
Not two relegation teams but the infamous Dipper last game of the season 95/96, football genius Alan Ball telling Kavelashvili (now Georgian President) to get in the corner at 2-2 after being 2-0 down.

Us, Coventry and Southampton were on level points but we were relegated by goal difference on 38. points.

We thought that was pretty bad but we reached our nadir just 2 years later when we dropped into the third tier, just about scraping into the CL qualifiers this season is something us FOC's can cope with.

OP is sure UEFA will charge both clubs? What they gonna say to Brugge? 'How come you didn't score 2 goals in 10 minutes against Man City away? That proves you sold the game!' And to us? 'Man City you should've lost!'
You're a crazy man OP.

Will soon change when clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern etc get kicked out in the early stages. Will soon be moved back to previous format

No advantage for winning the League anymore. After we were champions in 2012 we ended in Pot 2, they then changed it so champions were pot 1 based on country coefficients. Those still exist just to confirm many clubs qualify through their confederations. City are top of the coefficients ax are England so Villa are the recipients of good English performances over the past few years. Next season will likely see England with 5 CL spots, let's hope we can retain our place and get a more favourable draw.

We were also discussing the West Germany/Austria match. But the big difference in this one was that for 80 minutes there was a competitive match that could have gone either way. At 2-1 Brugge were pushing forward trying to equalise and with our ability to blow two goal leads they clearly thought they hd a chance until someone did the Maths and decided a two goal defeat was OK.

It would have been much more dodgy if Stuttgart and PSG had played out a 0-0 draw ensuring that both of them would finish above either Brugge or City whatever the outcome of our game.
