City and WWE

Silverlake bought them and UFC a few months ago, this was always gonna happen, the CO-OP will be hosting shows just like UFC, we are partners through our part owner
An associated party transaction then. Expect it to be marked down to 50p a year once the American owners meet for their next meal.

Because Ashton Under Lyne Hippodrome's annual pantomime doesn't have a 100 million viewers, social media engagement larger than every PL club and a market cap of 18 billion dollars.

It is also the 9th largest Youtube channel in the world, with 84bn views. That's also bigger than the NFL, NHL, MLB, PL, La Liga, etc. It's actually bigger than every single top European football club combined.

WWE aren't some obscure pantomime. It's 2024, they're one of the world's biggest entertainment brands and in terms of social media engagement, THE world's biggest entertainment brand. And about 40% of those people are in the 18-35 age group. This is an absolutely huge get.
And this is what the "yeah but wrestling is just a fake pantomime" crowd don't get. It's an immensely popular entertainment product worldwide, and is just as "real" as most of the stuff on TV, online or in the cinema.

There are VERY smart business people on both sides, at City and WWE. It'll be interesting to see if this is just a one-and-done based on City's forthcoming US tour, or if there are future plans based on the connection the two organisations now have via the ownership of Co-op Live.

WWE start their distribution deal with Netflix in January so their footprint is only going to get bigger. If there's ANY City presence from that point then it's only going to be good for the exposure of the club.

It will lead to WWE events at the Co-op or maybe even Abu Dhabi.
Not sure about Abu Dhabi given WWE's long standing and lucrative arrangement with Saudi Arabia, however in the States the TKO group are already heading towards having full weekend takeovers in certain city's/states. So for example across a Friday-Sunday it's perfectly feasible that Co-op Live could host 2 x WWE shows and a UFC PPV. You're talking 60k+ fans paying for very expensive tickets and a very profitable weekend.
