City Announces Global Partnership with Viagogo

It may be a reaction to the drop in demand with the extra capacity in 10 moons' time.

We spoke to Matt Drew, international business development lead, to find out more about the partnership and what it will mean.

Great post. It’s fucking hilarious seeing some fans justify ticket price increases by citing the need to meet PSR/FFP. Have they not seen the kind of profits the club have been posting in recent seasons? Those profits absolutely dwarf any extra money that a season ticket/match day ticket price increase brings in.

The club brings in shit loads of revenue from sources other than match day revenue. On top of sponsorship money, TV money, and prize money there’s also the near half a billion quid that they’ve brought in through selling academy players since the new Academy complex opened a decade ago. And this year there will be an extra source of income - the Club World Cup. Mooted to make City - and Chelsea - a MINIMUM of £27m each, rising to £97m if we go on and win it. Even if we go out at the group stage, the club will have made enough money to freeze season ticket prices and freeze and make more sensible decisions regarding match day prices - instead of this £61 bollocks for Leicester on a Wednesday night - for the next ten years FFS. Win the tournament and they could price in a freeze for 20 years and still have shit loads of change left over.

Fans need to stop falling for this “need to meet FFP/PSR” bullshit that the club are coming out with because in effect they’re just doing their bidding for them. City have never had so much wiggle room as they do now regarding FFP/PSR so there’s absolutely no need to increase ticket prices again. I’d actually argue that a multi-year price freeze would make more money for the club in the long-term as it keeps long-standing loyal fans onside, whereas continued incremental price increases will just price out and piss more and more off and then the club will need even more people from elsewhere to fill the stadium.
100%.

Regrettably zero empathy by the club.....their lack of understanding, appreciation and awareness is bewildering.

Where is the influence of Mike Summerbee on this issue ??

He is the common denominator between the fans and club and surely will empathise with our issues.

The club has the opportunity to be the 'club of difference', to reflect and act on the current ludicrous situation, which is entirely due to their unthinking decisions.

A complete overhaul of the ticketing policy, beginning with an immediate 3 season price freeze, followed by meaningful reductions/credits (not f&b gimmicks), is the minimum the club should be doing.

Increase corporate prices by all means , but address all season ticket, FlexiTicket, and matchday ticket prices for core City fans.

In most businesses, and City are not a special or unique business, alienating your long term, core and future customers, is a very risky strategy.

The traditional and tribal nature of fans often means that family/area support is multi-generational, passing through the generations the era's, good times and bad.

It's an habitual badge of honour, break that habit and it becomes very difficult, and often disproportionately costly, to re engage/replace.

The Sheikh and Khaldoon have both referenced our loyalty and potential. If we weren't who we are, with the potential to fill a 62000 + + + stadium, they may not have purchased City.

They've invested in in the club & the team......now is the time to demonstrate their sincerity and integrity, by investing in the fans.

The tipping point is upon us and them !!

100 percent mate. I tend to roll my eyes when supporters mention it on here now. Sometimes wonder if it's actually people from the club that are spreading this narrative as surely individuals can't be that low in intelligence to believe that raising a season ticket by £50-100 each year is the deciding factor in them complying with FFP/PSR?!! Perhaps they thought we only spent £180 in the January transfer window and not 180 million? Therefore making that individual feel like they've almost paid for half of those signings personally.

Be music to the clubs ears that people are spreading that myth on this forum and elsewhere that their season ticket raise is somehow making the club compliant with the regulations. All it's doing is making some fat cat **** of an executive on an already exceptional salary an even bigger bonus.

Oh, they are. They do believe PRS and FFP is the reason why season tickets and match day tickets have to go up in price very season.

In that case, season ticket and matchday ticket price increases every season are to pay for the players agent fees. £60mill in the last financial year.

There's a group of us in EL306 that have been clustered together for over a decade now. The minute that group starts to be diluted by some "global" fans taking selfies and generally being a pain in the fucking arse during the match, that's the point when I start questioning whether the "matchday experience" is for me any longer.
This has been my club since 1979 but it's slowly drifting away from me.

Delusional. Our season ticket income to the club is akin to coins in change you find down the back of the sofa. Maybe it makes people feel more valued to believe in that myth and that their money is vitally important to the club. It's not.

Not read the whole thread but, say an away fan buys from Viagogo at £120, then stands up and cheers when ( not if) they score, then gets chucked out after a few digs on the way whatever, will the club apologise to all parties involved?

Im waiting!!

No, they hope the individual throwing the digs was a season ticket holder so they can ban them and then give that additional seat away to Viagogo to sell on at a higher price.

The match day experience and atmosphere is proper rubbish these days. Doesn’t feel like city anymore. We’re rapidly going down the Real Madrid, Barca, Rags day tripper hospitality day out etc. I won’t renew my ST and I’m sure my seat will be sold for separate games next season

Don't give it up mate, the more that do the more of our identify we lose.

I'm thinking the same way. I know I can pass my ticket on most games to a couple of guys in my supporters club.
I've moved to York now so mid week games are out for me, some weekends I can't go as my Mrs works.
So I can just keep our tickets and manage them, purely out of devilment to prevent them being sold for more.
I might give it another season but everyone around me is not renewing so I'm surrounded by different people every game.
