City are set to promote Denayer, Lopes, and Iheanacho

Because Rony has been here for 3 years already he can be classed as homegrown as I would imagine we could add denayer as a champs league homegrown as he has been here for 2 and is 20 so by the end of next season will be officially homegrown.

Lopes went to Lille for a season so he only has two years HG.

HG rules don't count years out on loan abroad I don't think.

Whether Lopes is HG or not is truly irrelevant, given that he is under 21 and there is no "quota" to fill

Pretty sure it does count towards his 36 months

To be HG I am pretty sure you have to spend 3 years in England prior to your 21'st birthday, otherwise the whole ruling is a mockery.

Lopes lost 12 months of that being in France, just like Denayer lost 12 months being in Scotland.

Pellegrini is understood to also be considering elevating the 18-year-old Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho to the first-team and is likely to monitor the youngster’s progress during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and Indonesia.
Is this not the most stupid thing to say ? The manager of the team monitoring players during games, what do they think he does, pick a team and then go spend the game in the bar ?

It's enough to be registered with a club based in the respective country, if I'm not mistaken. So Lopes should be considered as a HG player when he reaches 21 (unless we sell him, of course).

I would happily be proved wrong, but I don't think it is.

If that was the case you could sign a 16 year old Spaniard for example and loan him back to his original club with him never playing any sort of football in England whether it being youth or senior, then you get him back at 21 and he is HG.

It just can't happen, the FA are not that stupid.

A Home Grown player will be defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)
