City are set to promote Denayer, Lopes, and Iheanacho

I would happily be proved wrong, but I don't think it is.

If that was the case you could sign a 16 year old Spaniard for example and loan him back to his original club with him never playing any sort of football in England whether it being youth or senior, then you get him back at 21 and he is HG.

It just can't happen, the FA are not that stupid.

I don't know what site this is, but premierleague.com's FAQ is a mess, so:
"A home-grown player will be defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21)."

It's all irrelevant, as all three are under 21, so won't be counted as part of either our home-grown or international quota.

Remember when Mario first joined us.

The comment at the bottom of the article sums it up for me, anything about City written by Mark Ogden should be in the agenda thread!

But the actual discussion was about whether they will count as HGs in the future, or not.

But back on topic, we already have the maximum no. of 17 foreigner fulfilled in our squad, so even if we sell, let's say Nasri, Jovetic and Dzeko and bring in players like, let's say, Pogba, Firmino, KDB, that we would have 19 senior players, and as Pellegrini counts with a 22-men squad, it would indeed make space for 3 U21-s (or homegrown incomings such as Sterling).

Is this not the most stupid thing to say ? The manager of the team monitoring players during games, what do they think he does, pick a team and then go spend the game in the bar ?

No that's what a lot of fans do especially away

I can see Lopes and Nacho getting in the 1st team squad but Denayer would be 4th choice Centre Back and I get the feeling he just wants to play games even if it means going back out on loan until Demi leaves next year.

We don't know how good Denayer is going to be yet, for all we know he could come in pre-season and make the position his own.

We don't know what player Kompany is going to come back to, Mangala whilst improving still needs to shake off some worrying moments and Demichelis is 35 in December.

Denayer will know if he can hit the ground running he may just become a regular and first or second choice.
