Jeez Squirty, you have just stirred a very painful memory. I did Shrewsbury as well.

and Derby
Shrewsbury away as a teenager
City one of the best teams in the land, humiliated

They had one stand that backed onto a river and if they kicked the ball out the ground they had to send a bloke out on a boat to get it back. We turned up like the big I Am's and we were well and truly put in our place.

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Getting relegated in 1998 after winning 5-2 at Stoke . Got to say that late 90s supporting City was a trying time .

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Luton and Pleat dancing across the pitch

However the 1998 season apart from the last game and subsequent promotion was particularly creditworthy, having my Blackpool supporting Father in law taking the piss was not funny

On a different note look at the table for 2001-2002 season how many of those teams have sunk without trace

I went to the 4-0 Liverpool game on the Wednesday. Thought we played better second half so naively went back on the saturday thinking we would get a draw. 6-0 and was chased across Stanley park by margi Clare's love child with a pen knife!! Had better days.

I agree Luton was bad in 1983 . But going down to the 3rd division was worse . Bloody hell the likes of Stockport and Bury were doing better than us at that time . I remember Bradford City fans taking the piss out of my team at that time .

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Actually.. our demise through the 90's was so systematic that it was not as painful to me as the false dawn under the Thai Nutter buy out... at first we were flying ,

then reality bit..

... Sven.. useless
Shinawatra... corrupt and skint

club sliding back towards the abyss

Boro... 8-1 defeat.... arrogant rags crowing... oh ffs

As John Cleese's character in the film Clockwise reminded us with the memorable quote

" It's not the despair, Laura. I can stand the despair ... it's the hope !!
