City attacking face value sites - cultural war on supporters ?

Tough one that as every club needs the next generation hooked on their club. Even if they've used a partner to get the tickets. Those kids might want to support Newcastle and carry on going

Wouldn't get anyone moaning if it wasn't the Barcelona game but in the same breath would they take 45 tickets If it wasn't Barcelona?
Are they going to get many new regular fans from Dundee?

No!! :0(

And the schools in Dundee so I don’t think they will be turning up every week!!!

I think it's £35 per year for the matchday membership mate isn't it?
Correct

Proper Tourist/1st World issue below

I’ve been off the Matchday Membership scheme for the last 2 years, as I have only been going to away games and my mate was on it to try and get me tickets :0)

So I purchased it this year so I could go to a few home games, as the Champions League away games will be tricky for getting tickets any where ! :0(

Got a Club email promoting the purchase and a chance to win a Monaco away ticket:0)

Thinking of making a trip up from the West Country for the Bayer Leverkusen ( apologies for the spelling!!??)

Joined on the 5th September 2025 again, only see Champions Home game ticket conditions?

You needed to have purchased your Matchday Membership before the Champions League draw was made, 27.08.2025.

When the ticket criteria is released I can see me making a phone call to the Ticket Office to confirm my City Supporting credentials???

My problem :0)

No sympathy required

It's a sensible thing for the club to have to have joined before a draw for a compy.

Of course City could also have done it on points, someone with X,000 points would be a safe bet but, that would have created work/pressing a button on the criteria program.

There's a lot of things wrong with the system like you having to pay just to join but, I don't really want to see a sea of yellow/red when we play later in the league.

Then they go and release a shit load of tickets to 3rd party sites? Ensuring that there will be a load of people there who don't have to prove they are City fans.

The only way you can stem the tide is to allow blues who have had memberships and attended games in the past to get tickets at a reasonable price.

There's definitely no easy option and the club certainly don't aide the issue or come out smelling of roses.

Don't know I stopped paying for it few years ago. Everyone else seems OK with it but I just got fed up of paying them money for the privilege of paying them some more money.

The Newcastle situation is as simple as the school and club partnering in something and then promised tickets to the first Champions League game at St James Park which just so happens to be Barcelona. Reality is it could of been anyone. Nothing would have been said if it was Leipzig for example.

Which doesn’t quite mesh with the ‘we need to know who’s in the ground’ bollox they continue to push.

It's as if the club is pushing for more tourists not less, we will really see this take hold in any big games we play.

I’ll wager you don’t need to pay £35, or even be a member, if you’re in a box or paying for hospitality.

Sunday will be the test won't it? I've just had a quick look on Viagogo and seen these which must have come from the club from ticket exchanges. For reference, there's tickets on the official site for block 305 priced at £58 for an adult

People will pay for the key games mate, without having to pay the £35 upfront membership. Sunday will be a phone fest.

Sorry I’m part of it. Only chance I could get a ticket for the derby and it was £409 for 93:20 2 tickets.

Got tickets for Napoli off the site £80 for two

Do plastic tourists have to meet the same criteria or can they just buy then on viagogo? Seems harsh to treat the local loyal support differently.

Only hospitality tickets, which I would imagine you could buy without needing the same prior ticket criteria anyway.

The hospitality tickets you see on viagogo, especially ones where the "upscale restaurant" is offsite, are tickets that season ticket holders that have exchanged their tickets back through the club who have then resold it on to their ticketing partners. Legalised touting
