Probably one for @Gary James, or some of our older users, but had a couple of emails about this recently. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hi I`m a 75 year old Spurs supporter and have it in my mind that back in the 1960s Manchester City played at White Hart Lane in a maroon and gold Hoops shirt. I only ever saw it once. I cant find anyone who remembers it or shown on a web site of your old shirts. Can you please let me know if my memory is correct or am I going bonkers Thank you

Hi

Just watched Look at Life 'Saturday Fever' on Talking Pics TV . It was a short film about football in 1960. It showed Spurs 0 City 1 from April 1960. City apparently wore a yellow kit with maroon/red trim (see below). Any further details of this kit? Never seen it before.

Cheers

Just found this, glad I watched it through, mostly about spuds, this is typical City scoring in the last minute, not forgetting this was the year before Spuds League and Cup double. Interesting watch but if you haven't the time, go to 5 mins in. Make that 3mins 30. to see City arriving.

Looks like it was goalscorers penultimate game for City, @Gary James.

Enjoyed that. Just a bit before my time.

There's footage out there of City's visit to Leeds just a couple of weeks before that game at Spurs:

It's in black-and-white, but Leeds are wearing what must be dark blue shirts (this being before Revie changed their home kit to all white). The commentator refers at the start to City's new away kit of "old gold and black". I assume it must be the same shirt as we wore at Spurs - we surely can't have had two different away kits of similar colours at the same time - but we're wearing black shorts at Elland Road.

It wasn't until the mid-seventies that there was a requirement for the away side to wear different colour shorts to avoid a clash, but we wore white shorts at Spurs. I can only guess that was to avoid a similarity to the very dark blue shorts Spurs were wearing in that game.

Post that in the media thread mate - commentator banging on about how much city players cost.

I was at Leeds road Huddersfield when we played in old Gold and Black,1964 old 2nd division game I remember X Wolves player Jimmy Murrey playing for us bet he felt at home in those colours.

One of our best ever away kits this one, absolute beauty. Just look at that collar… and the combination of that shade of yellow with maroon!

Would love a minimalist design (like this season’s home kit, just block colours with no patterns and nothing fluorescent!) at this for an away kit in the coming years.

Well, just like that^ but with the proper badge (not in monochrome!) and the sponsor and makers logo.

Maybe with maroon shorts instead of white?

Come on City/Puma… make it happen!

Here’s another I’ve never seen before if it’s the colour it seems. It’s hard to tell in greyscale but it seems darker than maroon, maybe navy or black?

Unless it’s just the way the picture has come out and it’s just the maroon one?
