They usually go over New Mills, Buxton and Chapel etc.. to land at Manchester approaching from a north east direction, they must be using the runway the opposite way today.

Why does the Dambusters March come to mind?

Well it's all sort of a mixture of Lancaster bombers my mum helped to make not far from the Etihad, Uwe's granddad, Old Trafford, Anfield, and a triumphant return to base, mission accomplished, with that fantastic score playing in the background with the Kippax Choir belting out 'we all fucking hate Reds'.

My late dad made bombs not far from Ringway. He was an industrial chemist, a reserved occupation. He was arrested for sloping off to Bristol and joining the RAF.
