City bus scheme for home games - bus tracking (P91)

May not be advertised but ask the Bee bus driver for a day pass and it's £3.60. Just rang Bee and asked if they allow the £3.60 day saver on their match buses and they don't. If i caught the bus from my house to Stalybridge station and then got on the match bus from there it'll cost me £9.60. I may as well catch the 216 to Alan Turing way on the £3.60 day pass and save £6.

And a Bee bus day pass will probably save plenty of others money too.
if on direct bus route then yes you'll save money but it stops at every lamppost. the city bus needs to be same value to work

Thanks for that, it’s worth knowing for people even if it’s only 40p. I always need 2 buses so just get the £5 one via the Bee app and it also gives flexibility as to which route I take.

I have the same problem with the Matchday buses, I’m two miles away from the pickup point so it would cost me £11.60 minimum. I might as well go for the three buses it takes for a fiver.
No problem, pal.

Just to clarify for others a day saver on any bus network is £5 and a day saver on Bee buses only is £3.60.

I’m looking at using it for the Luton game as my normal lift is away on holiday. Was there plenty of room on board when he picked up at Broadway
I used it for the Arsenal game , the stop is between the Whitegate and the Boat & Horses .About a dozen got on and it was already pretty full , but everyone got a seat ( had to sit upstairs ).

I don't consider £6 for match bus and another £3.60 good value to get to a game and back. Like i said for me £3.60 will get me to the game and back to my house on 2 buses and that's what I'll be doing. The only other option is to drive to Ashton and park and then get the tram.

The only problem I can see in the future is the amount of FOC getting on, I was chatting to one last night, the more that use it the less are paying, I said everyone should pay £5 that way the cost is split between us all, if 60% FOC on the 13 are using it that’s a costing a lot to run, unless it’s brought in under the bee network umbrella. The cost does need to come down especially people with kids. After the farce last night I ended up paying £7.80 for the tram/bus ticket got in 5 mins before ko, so that’s 20p cheaper than the City bus but lasts all day, don’t get me wrong I’d choose the City bus as its almost door to door without pissing about, it just needs tweaking a bit and it will be a great thing to use.

Teething errors were inevitable. It still sounds like a unique scheme designed for fan convenience over anything else.

On normal buses I have seen drivers of the later ones cut corners, not stop and generally be unreliable. The bus doesn't get used and it is cancelled down the line.

I think they will keep buses dependant on usage figures, and the more problems there are, the less likely they are to be retained. They will only keep the ones that don't need a big subsidy.

I’m looking at using the previous stop on Broadway, between Middleton Rd and Hunt Lane. Sounds like I’ll be ok

Yes downstairs there was only 4 people, but the bus company had given the driver the wrong times so I believe there was 20 people left behind at a previous stop. Going home still plenty of room though
