Don’t want to put a dampener on it, as I think it’s a great idea. But you’d have thought they’d find somewhere a bit closer than that to pick up wouldn’t you?

Must be best part of a mile’s walk to the far side of the ground from there.
connell college is 5-8 mins from the ground and half a mile away, probably closest you can get that isn't residential parking, and won't mean a load of extra buses on the new rd.
Plis unless they paid One Manchester thier land thats closer, logic says they use connel/co-op who they are parteners with

Playing Devil's Advocate... parking further away probably makes the journey home slightly quicker. If the buses are closer to the ground, the roads are closed for some time to allow crowds to die down.

The other day I said there should be a bus on the Crewe corridor too as I live in Sandbach.

Well the club haven't done it but tonight Northern Rail have!

Train from Piccadilly at 2206 to Wilmslow then a bus to Sandbach arriving at 2348!

Connell college is actually a great place to park for a quick getaway as ATW is shut at the academy bridge so you get a free run at the main road. The problem last week was they waited an extra half hour after scheduled departure time for “people who had bought returns” although no one actually turned up that late, and by then traffic was gridlocked. Not sure what the point of a return is as no saving compared with 2 singles and (we were told) its first come first served in both directions?

If someone needs a return they need a guarantee their seat will be there when they get back otherwise it's whoever sits closest from the stadium or walks fastest which would put certain people at a huge disadvantage. I guess it's early days yet and they were giving extra time in case people were struggling to find their way back, but it's a trial until the end of the season and things will probably change when they have their list of lessons learnt.

Bus 13 from Shaw was busy tonight probably a spare 20/25 seats and standing downstairs, I can see these taking off, maybe look at the pricing if it does especially if you have kids they should be at least half price. Once word gets round and parking becomes harder and the offsite seem to be ripping people off then it could get busy on these buses.

Sort of is mate they know exactly how many have got on so anyone trying to get just a single back may not get on if it was full going unless of course at the last minute there are a few no shows

Excellent service. Got me there in time for a few pre match beers. Got me home about the time we're normally leaving the SSL1 bar. All for 6 quid return. Can't knock it.

Bus 13 should’ve left at 2145 he left at 2149, we had 6 mins of extra time, I managed to get there about 2140 and I had to get a move on to do that with the crowds getting round from the SS. Bus had quite a few on already so I’m assuming they are on the other side of the stadium or left early. I was back in Royton by 2225 home by 2240, normally on the bus it would be 2330 at the earliest, can’t fault it, just a pity they can’t drop the price a little. I feel a £6 for everyone would be reasonable.

Was on Bus 6 from Offerton last night. Used my OAP bus pass so free of charge. Got in the ground before 7, and because we waited for stragglers on the way back we were back in Offerton about 10 minutes late. Bus probably about 50% occupied. Walk from the college to the ground took me about 12 minutes. For me an absolute bargain, obviously, bus was stewarded and driver excellent. I have read comments and seen a piece on youtube and fully appreciate that for others there are issues, costs, particularly with family groups, distance from park up to ground etc and no loos on the bus if you have a few pints. I would say if we are asked for feedback then respond I'd hate to see this initiative go up in smoke. I normally travel on a bus with a supporter group to the ground, just thought that I try this an an alternative last night.

Now you bastards are going on the bus it makes exiting from Blue Car Park so much easier. I was back home in Littleborough by 10:25 and that's travelling via those wonderful areas of Manchester - Monsall, 'Apper'ay, Blackley (The Weybridge of the North), Middleton, Castleton and Rochdale. Traffic all the way was very light. Long may it continue, and those still driving, get on the bus!

I wondered if that was accepted! Oooh, I can't wait till they extend the bus service from Littleborough Square?

I agree, I was on the same bus with my brother in a wheelchair. It was a doddle getting to and from the ground and though the wait for non-existent stragglers was frustrating it was the A57 going down to one lane that caused the biggest delay.

The only people that arrived late for the return journey bought single tickets so I guess they were hedging their bets on getting the bus back anyway.

It's a good initiative that can only get better with practice as far as I can see.

Boothstown bus was half an hour late tonight but managed to get us there half an hour before kick off. Must have taken us 25 minutes to get home, can’t fault that.
What time did you get back to Boothstown mate? I'm in Astley and, tbh, I'm getting to the FOC stage and driving through Manchester in the rush hour in the pissing rain isn't that high on my list of favourite pastimes any more.
