City buy Hyde Utd?

Here are some photos of what is happening at Ewen Fields.

Do you know where this story about navy & white being Hyde's original colours has come from? I think it's from the North Cheshire Herald/Reporter in the 1890s, but if that's the case then they weren't Hyde's original colours.

I do know that Hyde's colours were recorded as Oxford/Cambridge Blue halves in 1887 by the Manchester FA. As Cambridge Blue later became our preferred shade of Blue (evolving into the modern day Sky Blue) I think that colour should be used.

As a Hydonian I was as interested in Hyde's early colours as City's when I was carrying out some research for one of my books. Despite considerable effort I couldn't find any colours recorded for Hyde earlier than the halved shirts of 1887.

I'd be very keen to know if there's any evidence of colours before 1887 because otherwise it feels like Hyde are making a bit of a mistake with their colours - it feels like they should be using Cambridge & Oxford Blues instead of Navy.

It wont be true - cant own more than one club in the english league.

Anyone noticed since we took over/moved in they have had three league games and been turned over in each one apparently? Got beat 5-1 at home today so we dont seem to be bringing them much luck!

Just had a read through this interesting thread for the sake of clarity.

My normally impeccable [and very well placed] number one source seems to think that the development of the Hyde ground for reserve matches does not relate so much to English clubs but more to the potential for games against European clubs where no significant reserve league structure exists, Spain apparently being the obvious target.

Seems slightly strange to me but nothing about MCFC surprises me anymore. It would certainly be attractive and may induce some coverage from clubs that already have their own TV channels. Anyway, I leave it with you.

Yerp this season weve started badly, lost 5-0 away to Telford, then lost 3-2 at home to Workington and then got battered 5-1 to Alfreton.

To top it off we got Droylsden away Weds night, so predicting another drumming there :(
