If we turn his goal into a York away moment, I can claim to have been there :)Bit of random stuff on Ian as I do see him at games from time to time.
Until Lopes scored for us he was our youngest ever goalscorer and still holds the record for minutes to goal ratio for us ...1 goal in 32 minutes of total career game time for us.
I’m going to say Central League winners but my head says Manchester Senior Cup winners. I’m sticking with my central league guess.Correct. But which one!
I can confirm he us a thoroughly nice bloke and now retired in lanzarotePlayed with Smally at school, good lad and a top player. Brilliant midfielder for England schoolboys and destined for great things.
Typical City, Tony Book played him at right back for the reserves and destroyed his confidence, shipped out to Rochdale and it went downhill from there. Fine margins.
The Central League is the correct answer.I’m going to say Central League winners but my head says Manchester Senior Cup winners. I’m sticking with my central league guess.
I did post Lancashire cup earlier in the thread but I meant ManchesterThe Central League is the correct answer.
Pretty much the same team that won the Yourh cup in 86 won the Central League in 87.
Also to my knowledge back then we didn’t compete in the Manchester Senior Cup (that was for non league teams but happy to be corrected) though the Youth team did compete in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup.
Showing my age there with the central league. It was a great reserve team competition back in the day.The Central League is the correct answer.

City lose in Senior Cup final
MANCHESTER City lost out in the final of the Manchester Senior Cup to Oldham, who lifted the trophy for the first time in 28 years.www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
I've watched Vueso, Tiatto & Roswell amongst others play for fitness in it for us
It was. It was where players coming back from long term injury got half a game and then a full game before being the one sub for the first team. Now they are out for months and back on the bench without any game time.Showing my age there with the central league. It was a great reserve team competition back in the day.
100% agree mate.It was. It was where players coming back from long term injury got half a game and then a full game before being the one sub for the first team. Now they are out for months and back on the bench without any game time.
It was where youth team players played alongside and against seasoned pros on their way up to hopefully the first team rather than just playing against their own age all the time.
We have the case now where James Mcatee just isn’t playing any game time at all and yet maybe expected to step off the bench in a full blown PL game and make a difference…..
