Manchester City are edging closer towards completing a deal to bring Werder Bremen winger Mesut Ozil to Eastlands, according to a report from The Independent.

The German international, 21, is seen as one of Europe's hottest prospects, and City are keen to bring him to England to fill the left-wing position in their team.

There have been reports that Martin Petrov and Craig Bellamy could leave Eastlands in the summer, leaving City short of options on the left side of midfield.

The Citizens are believed to have held preliminary talks with the player and are keen to conclude a deal before the World Cup, after which competition for his signature could heat up.

seen him play for germany at the under 21 euros last year. looked a quality player. skillful playmaker, all left foot.
scored a 40yard free kick against england.mind you the keeper more or less threw it into his own net i seem to remember!
