City early 90s

I was at school around then @Blueboy73 and everyday Monday I got shit about either losing, getting excited about someone like Tony "f**kin" Vaughan, facing relegation etc. Hated it and that's why whenever someone asks me who our rivals are I know EXACTLY who they are - united. I'll never, ever till my dying day take it for granted when we give them a good hiding!! This blue is bitter, proper bitter lemon ha ha!!

At least with Newcastle they played some top, top quality stuff which is exactly what you would expect from KK. Loved him at City, but he was another one who was very quickly overtaken as he didn't progress.

Sadly, I've still got my "Forward with Franny" badge at my Mum and Dads house!

Ha ha Forward with Franny with the sit down protests on the Main stand car park at Maine road after every home game.
It makes me laugh when Rags ask me how long I've supported City implying I'm some kind of jcl glory hunter.
Most of them became Rags because they thought they could Lord it over us and can't see the irony when they ask.
I usually tell them I was a Chelsea fan up to 2008 and was an Arsenal fan before that which usually confuses the thick twats.

I remember seeing Alphonse Groenendijk's debut and thinking he was the best player I'd ever seen... I wish I could get that "optimism of youth" back ha ha!
If money serves we played Everton away midweek after we'd won the first 2 games, think Alfons played and was overwhelmed by the Everton midfield, we lost and it was the usual running battle after the game

Thought we had the basis of a really good side but when the Kippax was knocked down it felt like the hopes of maybe some success were knocked down at the same time.
Ive had to come back to your post and read it again, cos it definitely captures how i felt at the time .After watching Kendall transform the team, and for the first time in my life,as a City fan actively going to games home and away,we finally had a team i could be proud of.
Its difficult to explain what being a City fan meant in those days, esp an out of town Blue, you would have to run the gaunlet with your mates banter wise,we had finally sorted ourselves out if you like...there was a real vibe on the Kippax in the pubs,,and away from home.......well those away days were legendary. What fun we had,in huge numbers.brilliant times...
And then the Kippax was knocked down.
It was like ..hang on a minute...i was just getting into that ...Fucking hell.
Wounded me.to this day.Never ever felt the same going to any game after that.
Still hurts me now looking back,we got the team, but lost our Soul.
Thats how i see it anyway.

Bloke near us used to scream at Megson for most of the game.

You didn't stand anywhere near the top of the tunnel on the right hand side of the Kippax by any chance?
Yes we did, unless my mum came, then we moved out to windy corner.

Remember one time some bloke screamed “Megson, you’re a f*cking...”

Silence as he thought about it

Still quiet

Everyone seemed to be waiting for what came next

“embryo”
