City EDS and Pep

Roberts' inclusion is generous, considering he was a £10m signing and has made a combined total of about 60 minutes over three appearances. Nacho was an absolute no brainer - genuinely no credit from my end for getting that one right. Kid's a bona fida potential genius.

Other than that its been as poor as ever with a real lack of foresight. The main reason we have no fucking idea who, if anyone, can do it at first team level given this injury crisis as we never tried them in easier cup games or brought them on for 30 minutes here and there.

And this should be the minimum. It's laughable that two or three of them sit on the bench for 87 minutes. WTF does the coaching staff expect them to do with three minutes and an indeterminate amount of added time. Bersy came on and gave Sergio his goal but what would we have got had the lad been on at 60. The thing that is clearly noticeable in some of these lads - Celina, Barker, Roberts - is how direct they are! And the difference between our laboured efforts over the last couple of games is the directness shown by Leicester and Haringay Hotspurs.

Yes, i get that but pellegrini's overall performance is the responsibility of the DoF. They made a big song and dance about taking a holistic approach which would have included integration between the academy and the first team squad. If they were serious about than then The DoF should have been holding Pellegrini to account. Clearly he hasn't.

Yes, and we all know why MP was hanging around, and also why he's leaving, with this being one of the reasons amongst others. They could say what the want, but we all know this was just a stop gap appointment until the big one.

That may well be the case, but it's piss poor. Pellegrini has taken us backwards over the last two years and Txiki has watched/let him do it. That's why I don't think it's all down to Pellers. There seems to be very little old fashioned performance management going on.

I’m surprised you’re so clear cut in thinking toward Pellers. He has done a bit more this year than he did in the last 2 IMO.I don’t have any stats but if you assume Nacho and Roberts are EDS lads then this must be one of the best seasons for playing kids in the last 10 years (multiple cup games helps). And of those that we have released over his 3 years at the club none look like massive losses but that said some are having decent careers (Gudietti played against Barcelona last night).
However I do agree that there have been many missed opportunities. The number of times we have been comfortably leading games with kids on the bench and they have not come on is disappointing.

really ??? roberts played about 40 minutes ? for us and nacho is is a no brainer as others have said. they haven't been given a chance at all imo a few minutes at the end of a game isn't a chance - evans an example. even when we have been winning comfortably he still doesnt bring them on. I'm hoping with pep in charge they finally get given a proper chance to show how good they are

I will give you as poor as ever but I’m pointing out that it has been poor for the last 10 years or so at least. If you go through the managers from Mark Hughes, I don’t recall a single youth player getting much of a run with him, Bobby Manc same. Pellers did nothing of note years 1 and 2 but now in year 3 he has brought through Nacho and given a few run outs across all comps. It is hardly a downwards trend. We have had a few players tested and I can see a lot more game time coming up with the Chelsea game for starters and with any luck a decent win in Kiev will mean that we take the pressure of the home game. Again I don’t have stats but this could be a dramatically better year for using kids than any in the past 10 or more. I think part of the issue being raised now is the legacy of what has happened in the last 3 or 4 years but from where we are now I can see Celina and A Garcia on the verge of getting regular minutes and possibly others. If that comes off it would have to go down as a good year and with Denayer due back sets it up for a really good season to come.

It is a bit over simplistic tro call it a no brainer, Nacho has been gradually introduced and we are reaping the benefit. As above my point is that after years and years of nothing we now have a great young striker coming through and a few more who are on the edge and will possibly start games across the next month. In years gone by it has been League cup run outs and nothing else.
