City fan throws beer at Gary Neville

No he doesn't - he clearly says that anyone sober and clear thinking shouldn't have done it. He's put a context on it.

"Save the situation"? What was going to happen next?

This excuse of being pissed up really annoys me, can you control your behaviour after a drink ?, or do you behave like a nob, and blame it on the "bevvy".
If Neville had not managed to duck out of the way, or he had reacted to the situation, it could have easily spiralled into something more.
The Liverpool fans that attacked the City coach were all pissed, bet they would have stood and applauded if they were sober!

Do not make alcohol the excuse.

So you believe all those who lined up on both sides of the road at Anfield were pissed ? ALL of them ? Is that what you are saying ?

Not having that.

No mate, of course not, nor is their proof that the clown who lobbed the pint of beer was pissed, if he was throwing it all away. Nor was I trying in any way to compare the two incidents.
All I was doing was to point out that alcohol is no excuse for violent behaviour, nor should we look to condone it or offer excuses for such behaviour . It does nothing for the great away support we get nor I hope reflect what most away attending blues would see as acceptable.
Also making excuses make it sound similar to what can be read on another forum .

He did, he got himself to a nice safe distance and gave it the big one...........

I didn't make it an excuse. Come down of that particularly high horse of indignation will you - the thread even started off as "assaulted" before the original poster realised it was perhaps over the top.
Everyone on here, apart from a very few clearly on the wind up, has said, quite rightly, it shouldn't have happened - just not the crime of the century some want it to be. What are you continuing to be so self righteously indignant about. Easily have "spiralled into something more" - it was one blue with half a pint - or are you tarring everyone who had a few drinks into potential "assailants" .
