WTF has that got to do with the debate, or do I now have to be hanged?
Is that better?

Is has fuck all to do with the debate but the moral outrage on this thread is actually depressing me.

Young lads do something a bit daft when full of drink SHOCKER. To suggest they should be banned and that they are 'a disgrace to the City of Manchester and the club' like some have said is just an enormous overrreaction.

Young lads do daft things in their youth that they regret in later life.
Old people fall over and break their hips.

It's the way of the world.

Part of the problem is that attitude though - that its just lads out having a laugh. The fact remains that whatever their inebriated tiny little minds thought, they will have all known that they were acting like dickheads when they started thieving. Why shouldn't there be far reaching consequences?

Is there a special moral barometer for what's acceptable when you're away supporting your football team?

The club should do whatever they see fit doing. If the lads are banned for the season, so be it. I'm hardly going to shed a tear for some no mark who'd rather rob two cans than pay for them...

Never woke up in the morning and thought, "Jesus, that was fucking stupid." Billy? I have, many times.

I wouldn't consider myself a "no mark" but I would consider myself to have been stupid in my actions whilst under the influence and young.

The Police got involved with these lads so they haven't got away with it so any actions by the Club would be well well OTT.

Banning them for the season??? Come on now.

this is PATHETIC, i know all the lads on that coach and none of them have ever been done for anything like this before in there lives ,none of them have got any crimainal convictions . it was wrong ok and im sorry to the shop keeper , but the report is so far fetched its untrue , there was 10 lads in the shop the rest stayed on the coach .

it was a mistake , people make mistakes all the time , and if u say you dont your a lier .things happen im not condoning it but its a bit over the top

i carnt get over why people on here want to make trouble for fellow fans , you just make it worse and you sit there at home laughing about it its so sad

The problem is that because they have attended a match they are referred to as City fans. The theft has nothing what so ever to do with football. Would it mean that if someone were on a camping holiday and nicked something then they should be banned from camping? no of course not. The main problem I have is when did it become acceptable to steal? Have or morals as a society stooped so low that it is OK to behave in this manner. Supposing the headline read 4 heroin users steal from a shop. Everyone to a man would be on here calling them smackheads, junkies etc calling for their heads. The crime is the same, at least with an addict you know they are stealing for a reason, because they need money for a fix.
This whole thread speaks more about the society we live in and how it has degenerated.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You will get told off by the pc gang

How fucking sad is that...by condemning someone thieving, we're part of a pc gang.

If you miss ransacking service stations, there must be something seriously sadly lacking in your life.

And as one person says, its about knowing right from wrong.

Correct, and while 32 were "tarred" with the same brush on the coach, the media (and others) will also use it to tar all City fans with the same brush.

Imagine that - I could never see anyone tarring a whole support with the same brush due to the actions of a minority.

I'm sure I've read something else like that on here this week ;-)

I've done lots of stupid things mate. That's not the point. We don't need to tar and feather the lads, but this whole "I understand" thing is really quite disturbing. Is that how low our general morality is, that petty thieving, because its petty in nature, should be treated different to someone breaking into your house while your asleep with your wife, and taking everything of value?

Nah, I'm not having that...

-- Thu Sep 02, 2010 11:36 am --

I've broken plenty of laws, thankfully none of them involved taking/stealing/robbing or afflicting any other sort of pain or upset on a fellow human being just "for a laugh"...
