City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

Here is another picture taken of the family stand 9 minutes into the game.
Blocks 135-139 and 235-239 hold 5285 seats. I've zoomed in on my pics at home and counted the obvious empty seats - it's 150 in total. If you call it 200 for the ones I can't see clearly that's less than 4% which I imagine is pretty standard for most clubs. It's obviously far more at the start of a game, 10 minutes before and after half-time and 10 minutes before the end.

Makes a complete mockery of those police figures from last season and particularly for the Liverpool and Tottenham home games.

Some from 211 moved over to 210 at HT for a padded seat :-D there is deffo something going on with viagogo I've noticed after 3 games apart from the regulars that are in 210 a few on our row... spanish, polish, germans, chinese, half n half scarfs galore. And loads of empty seats. I wanted to take my little lads step cousin to Fulham as his first game he is only 8. Nothing going through City! Can't get him a ticket! However the block is half full. But if I gave that little lad the first taste of City? He might become a lifelong fan and get the bug. I can't get him a ticket near us for any game unless it's viagogo.

That area is where the shop/staff usually sit, hence being empty just after kick-off and before the end of the match.

Suggesting that 41 minutes is a good example of how many empty seats there are is very misleading because thousands have already gone to queue at the bar/food outlets. If you'd suggested 4 minutes in from kick off, it would be hugely affected by those who haven't got in yet because of the stupid queues outside.
What about the other example where if you stop the video and count the seats it's roughly 1 in 10 unoccupied!
I posted last season about the family stand and no shows. I relocated for the Newcastle game to CB L3 and sat five rows from the front looking directly down at the FS and it was incredible how many empties there were and my brother who was visiting and the reason for the relocate, even commented on it
I'll try and dig out the post later

From the BBC bias thread:

...Do you write to supporters around the stadium who aren’t attending games and tell them they won’t be able to renew if the ticket isn’t used so many times (like Bayern do)?

Hell, yes.

It gets my goat, but its a pointless argument as no amount of pontification is going to change it. I know of one tout thats a red that has cityzen cards ( plural ) that he uses to buy tickets and is always moaning he cant get rid of them. Its twats like that that are to blame.
Making all games available to buy for Cityzens Matchday members before the season has even started is a dream come true for touts (whether individuals or agencies like Viagogo). It turns what would normally be a labourious process spread over 9 months into something that can be done in less than an hour.

It's no surprise that they're all taking advantage of this, and it was noticeable how few seats were left for all games this season even on the first day of sales (2 seats together impossible for most games).

It's a policy I've found useful in the past but I'd rather City drop it if it makes life more difficult for touts/agencies. Go back to putting them on sale a few weeks in advance and there'd be loads more available for supporters that will actually turn up.

Quoted plenty here with regards to the family stand

It was a huge number and I don't know why you're in a scouse esq mode of denial
My relocated seat for the game was in 324, so we looked right down onto the family stand and I honestly couldn't believe how many empties there were
Look at my post history. Before my comment yesterday have I had a go at the family stand or empty seats. The reason for my post was because I witnessed swathes of untaken seats
As I have said, I needed two tickets together and looked before Christmas at this game to see if it was being moved for TV. When it was eventually confirmed for the Saturday that's when I tried to buy tickets, but there was almost no availability. Certainly not two seats together, so I had to wait for ticket exchange to open
@blue ranger where were you sat for the game?

I'm in 303 and while I'm usually critical of the FS L1 turnout I thought it was much fuller on Saturday than for recent games, a lot more than 75 % that's definite.

Well if that's fuller than normal it really is a situation that needs to be addressed

I'm in CB L3 and from my view I thought it was a good "attending" gate on Saturday. As usual it fills up a few mins after kick off and empties just before halftime/full time.

I stumbled across a vlog from a young geordie lad filmed up in the away section of SS3. After the ramblings and concourse singing, there are some great shots of both the action and the stadium including relative close ups of the family stand lower tier. You can even count the empty seats but the big picture is it is nearly nowhere near as bad as some make out on here.

Dunno. If you go to the vid at 7.20 and stop it at 7.30 ish, you can see how many empties there are and there are hundreds
