...a little rich? We are a lot rich and we'll do what we like to make City the best.

We're not actually.
Our owner is.

His riches are not ours. As things stand right now, we're just about breaking even, so no, we're not rich. With a little luck and the right leadership we will become fairly wealthy or more importantly (as fans) successful on the pitch.

Football clubs are rarely rich. In the wider world of business, they're pitiful. Turnover is high, but profitability is low.

I don't find our owners wealth anything to brag about as a City fan. I'm fortunate enough to enjoy some of the experiences (like winning things) that that has afforded us, but I won't be turning into a United fan shouting about wealth.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

If there is to be change on the FFP rules I would rather be on the inside to influence that change for the good of football in general rather than be on the outside with no chance of influencing any change whatsoever.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

No offence to anyone on here, but I'm all FFPR'd out now.

I'm just going to roll with it from now on, and wait until City reach that champagne supa nova in the sky, when they win the Champions League. When that day comes, don't look back in anger, because City will be standing on the shoulder of giants.

So all of you, stop crying your hearts out, because Sheikh Mansour has a master plan, and City will live forever, and there's nothing Platini and UEFA can do about it.

:-)

Agreed. It's the ONLY way!

When I say we I mean us - City - the whole thing and our owner is a part of it. It's an interesting condition you appear to have - to support a club independently of its actuality requires considerable mental strain.

It did not need an FFP Regulation to remind City's owners that paying its way is the objective of any fledgeling Company irrespective of the sector it is operating in.

Try borrowing money from a Bank for any takeover proposal and they want a Business Plan with a timeline detailing start up costs with inevitable losses up to a time where breakeven occurs and the profit starts to happen.

It comes as no surprise that the Bank (Sheik M.) has insisted that his own MCFC Business Plan is followed correctly from the start to enable it to reach profit in the shortest possible time.

However it certainly was an eye opener for UEFA and I dare say most Elite Clubs, to find that they were dealing with a Football Club that operated like a cost conscious Business rather than to satisfy a rich mans dreams.
In fact, when they examined the Accounts that City provided, they found to their dismay that their version of a Business Plans Timeline (FFP) was being complied with.
Hence the need for the late change to the Rules of FFP to ensure City did not comply completely.

I agree, we should watch things develop with interest and have faith that City's use of the massive funds potentially available to them will be used in a constructive, financially sound and proper way.

I am sure that all involved will follow the old advice to keep your friends close and your enemies closer during City's inevitable rise to Elite Team status so expect splits in the 'Top Table' approach to City.

Eventually we will become a financial 'Cash Cow' like the rest of the Elite Teams but there is no chance that any complacency will be allowed by the shrewd owners.
