Re: City & FFP (continued)

So Lionel Messi.

Has it been confirmed by anyone that Barcelona are unable to sell players as part of their transfer ban? The following statement doesn't make it clear to me:-
Fifa said in a statement: “FC Barcelona is to serve a transfer ban which will see the club prevented from registering any players at both national and international level for two complete and consecutive transfer periods, starting with the next registration period (January 2015).”
It just says registering, not selling.

If Messi and his father end up in a Spanish court then he may be motivated to ply his trade in the next best league in the world, in a country that would appreciate him. Should this possibility become real how well are we currently placed to make this happen? I guess FFP has scuppered any chances of it happening for us in January but could it be viable in the 2015 summer window?

It can only be buying you can't stop a club selling, partly because it stops income but mainly as you couldn't retrain players from moving.

Richard Keys telling viewers that Platini will be live in the Paris studio for 20 minutes and will be broadcast on the beIN network at 21:00 Mecca.
I think that's around 6/7 pm in the UK.

Watching this interview and Platini confirmed it was the clubs who complained to him about FFP.
Also interestingly he included Chelsea along with PSG and City.

Chelsea have been the biggest hypocrites of all as far as ffp is concerned. As soon as Abramovich realised he no longer had the deepest pockets, his arse fell out.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

To be fair if Chelsea are complaining alongside city and PSG it suggests their complaint is around debt - I suspect Munich would be pushing this as well! There will be a handful if clubs who are good on break even and debt.

Edit.
Apologies, what I meant was FFP was created because clubs complained to him.

For you cheese eaters.......

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Even from the little I could follow that was an interesting interview. Notice that the only UEFA official mentioned was David Gill. Am I right in thinking that he was saying that the recent meeting to discuss changes was chaired by Gill ? Anyway, good to see Platini is as unconvincing in his own language.
