City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Perhaps too much is being made of the closeness of the two clubs when it should be viewed more as a huge leap forward in terms of football financing?

If the money men in Abu Dhabi, headed by HHSM, are looking to use their wealth to finance club infrastructure it makes perfect sense but wont benefit City or CFG.

If you think about it in the PL Everton, Spurs and Liverpool are all looking for finance for ground developments. The MLS has new franchises looking for ground financing too.

Meanwhile, over in Italy the Chinese got involved with Inter Milan.

The AD money men are making a move on football for profit, nothing more than that?

That was my point originally made in the thread on the loan, IPIC are expected to be self financing in the future after an original cash injection, they're only in this to make money for their fund.

I think it would help a lot of blues to understand this deal if they looked at it as being done by a company headed by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, minister of presidential affairs, member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Emirates investment authority, rather than Sheikh Mansour, benevolent owner of Manchester City Football Club.

That's my thinking also. Maybe I've missed some subtle element which would put it in a different context - I certainly haven't looked into it in any detail - but I can't see past it simply being a business deal. With any luck I'm wrong.

That's how I see it, fbloke.

You have a pot of cash, you invest it for a return. They must have brokered a decent deal.

I reckon the first port of call for Real Madrid pre-crash would have been the local banks who are now unable to help them. The local and regional governments are also skint so the club have, perhaps for the first time had to go to the commercial market for financing.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

I've done a bit of light digging on the link with Real Madrid via IPIC and found an interesting connection.

IPIC owns 100% of Compañía Española de Petróleosa (CEPSA) a Madrid based oil company that just happens to sponsor the Spanish national side as well (and the Toro Rosso F1 team).

Incidentally CEPSA has made a move in to many European markets including the UK -

I wonder if we might see a sponsorship deal with CFG at some point?

Re: City & FFP (continued)

I see chelsea have made a 20 million profit this year. The media will be loving this as shitty city loses 52 million last year. I can't wait till our figures are out, if we do make a profit then I'll take a guess that nothing will be said at all about it and all the clueless journalists will go into hiding.
